As one of dem New Yakk Joo's - I gotta ask this

I just saw my first episode :thumb:

Bearing in mind - I do realize 99% of the dialogue is probably written for them ----- but ------ is it just me or am I hearing every expression and cliche every written regarding people from the south

One of those guys has the look of -- a one eyed cat in a room of rocking chairs

Its like the movie "Battle Los Angeles" -- every military cliche ever said in it that film

Oh yeah? Yous can take the 242 ova deya an hit da B-line back to wherever da hell yous came from. How is it my fault yous can't speak English, eh?

Maybe some kind of Yiddish?

Fershigina shalack verclempt hershigina whooock patueey.

Lols.

Sound forced?

The script itself may be formulaic and the characters may be showboating some as well. The colloqial accent, however, does not to me appear forced in any way on that show. In fact, it seems very tame for Louisiana. I have in mind a cartoon perhaps, of Cajun dialects - French Boomhauer. Those duck guys must be from the northern parts of the state, or they are city river folk.

Exhibit A, Cajuns:

Worked with an older gentleman who played High School ball in Shreveport Louisiana and later played in college with the Late Great Joe Delanney. According to him, yes had Phil stayed with football terry bradshaw may not have gotten his due accliam.

also according to him Phil is the same in real life as he is on the show.

SI, his brother is the same, AKA coon ass dumb.

Duck Dynasty got one of my friends into firearms. I had took him shooting a couple of times and he had no interest in guns. He starts watching DD and next thing I know he is buying camo ball caps and flannel shirts. He asked me to go to the gun store to buy his first rifle a couple of weeks ago. He wants a camo shotgun now. He is posting 2A stuff on his facebook page now and gets to experience his first gun show this weekend. The gun thing must of got him to thinking and after Sandy hit he started talking about becoming better prepared for emergencies. He knows I am into firearms but has no idea about my prepping.

For the most they are real like one of the post said the words might be scripted but they act like that! How do i know? ?? Delhi, LA born and raised moved off a few years ago thats 40 miles east of Monroe/west monroe and its said munrow. ;) i grew up doing a lot of the same stuff they do on the show. We usally make a trip down twica year to do some frog hunting and chase swamp rabbits. The only thing i can say is the money keeps the gamewardens off your back:)

Yep,
When my daughter first told me about the show, I said
"I ain't watching no stupid show about a bunch of dumb ass long haired bearded rednecks from loosyana!'

I watched a few minutes of it one day just to see what she was talking about and have been watching it ever since!

Reminds me a little of how watching the Andy Griffith show used to make me feel.
Kinda like there was still some good folks left in the world.

Couple of my favorite quotes:

"Thank God the government shutdown is over so we can finally get back to the government let down!" - Phil

"I've been showing up late and dirty my whole life." - Jase
