I just found out that Dicks Sporting Goods doesnt sell guns anymore, pretty sure they should change the name from Dicks to something more feminine, anyhow I havent been to WallyWorld in 20 years just wondering if they still sell guns, at the least shotguns? I refuse to go into one and i dont want to call and ask, lol. Or are there any Big Box Stores ,like Walmart that still sells guns? Thanks in advance for any replies!

Maybe in CONUS. In Alaska, it’s the highest population of large caliber revolvers I’ve see.

My small town Walmart still sells guns, selection isn’t great. I note guns seem mostly gone in bigger cities- maybe consolidated into a single super center per city. I noted the Walmart’s in poorer neighborhoods of big cities didn’t have guns precovid. Don’t know it this was based in sales or what.

I don’t recall ever buying a gun at WM- maybe a 10/22, but I don’t think so.

You would think Texas of all places would still sell em. Its like they know they cant take away the 2nd Amendment (yet), so they make it as impossible to find guns easily, and or make ammunition expensive and hard to find, thanks to team 'Lets Go Brandon'

There are local Mom'n Pop gun stores, Pawn Shops that are hit and miss, and local Buy, Sell and Trade sites that have face-to-face sales.

I've used them all. You just need to know what you're looking at, how much you're willing to pay, and (in the case of face-to-face meetings) establish some self-protection protocols.

I think Walmart was OK with guns until one of their stores got shot up. And you have no idea the kind of people walk into Walmart. Yesterday we had a drunk person on a riding scooter causing trouble on the grocery side of the store. I wouldn't want a lot of the Walmart customers to have a gun. And in case I wasn't clear I actually work for a Walmart.

If you absolutely have to (or want to) buy a gun from a big box store, then I'd suggest either Cabela's or Bass Pro.

Local gun shops are your best bet, chances are if they don't have it in stock they can order it for you.

Dicks, Wal-Mart, Big 5 etc. may be your only an option, they're just not the best option. I'd buy on line before I'd buy from a big box store. YMMV

Walmart still sells guns, but it’s down to something like less then 1/3 of their stores. They stopped selling them in big city and big metro suburban stores years ago. So the small town/small city stores are really the only ones left. They sell hunting rifles and shotguns pretty much exclusively now, with the ammo for those. Handgun and popular semi auto ammo was dropped after the mass shooting a few years ago at an El Paso Walmart. During the current ammo shortage they have been pretty empty.

As much as I hate it, ill go into a walmart and see if they sell it, im looking for a Remington 870 specifically. Also 21 years ago I worked at a Walmart , overnights. Man talk about the customers at 3 am, it reminded me of Dawn of the Dead,:ROFLMAO: lol. My wifes buying it for me, birthday/Christmas gift.

Some do, some don't, none have a very big selection.

Here's a hint: go to a gun manufacturer's website, for example henryusa.com, and find a dealer. I was surprised to find how many stocking dealers there are in my area that I was completely unaware of. Also listed were many pawn shops which sell new firearms as well as pawned ones. One in particular I have visited has a much larger floor area devoted to new guns than to pawned merchandise.

Exactly!

The only reason a person limits themselves to Dicks, Wal-Mart etc. is because they want to limit themselves or they don't know any better.

It's at your finger tips...literally.
Buds is one of the larger online gun retailers...
Davidson's is another...
Gallery of Guns
Most of the shops locally do business with either or both...

It is true that Walmart has discontinued sales of handguns, most tactical looking long-guns, primary handgun ammo (.25/.32/.380/9mm/.38/.357/.40/.44/.45) and "assault rifle" ammo (.223/5.56/7.62x39). Interestingly they still sell mil-spec 7.62x51mm ball.

Walmart has consolidated firearms sales into specific stores. Many times, it didn't make sense for every Walmart in a 10 mile radius to dedicate the retail space to firearms and /or ammo. Walmart absolutely still sells firearms and ammo in the large suburban locations- it might just not be in the one you visited. Inner city locations may be more restricted by legal issues or clientele. Very small stores may not have the footprint or staffing to support such sales.
