I think people confuse being offended with being incredibly stupid.

Intelligent, rational people can respect that other people have opinions, cultures, ideas and beliefs and formulate an educated rebuttal without getting "offended".

 

Well that excludes the entire Left.

 

I can live with racist and bigoted opinions around me however any form of tyranny against man is what I find most offensive.

"Estimates" are that about 100,000 Christians are killed each year because of their Religious affiliation. "Estimates" also say 7 MILLION children die every year of complications of starvation. Where's the outrage there?

What we need to wake up and realize, is that there's nothing wrong with being offended. It shows that someone is exercising their First Amendment right. It protects their free speech but does not guarantee them an audience. If someone finds it offensive, leave. Deny them that audience. But respect their right to say it in the first place. We're becoming insanely politically correct, and are in danger of legislating ourselves out of existence.

Example?
Smoking a cigarette outside in California will get you dirty looks and comments.
Most of those people are obviously high as a kite and when I tell them a drug addict's opinion means nothing to me they FREAK!

All the left has to offer is negative liberties, like the "right" not to encounter anything they find offensive. These negative "rights" necessarily violate the natural rights of all men, but the left demands that their "rights" are not just equal to genuine rights, but superior to them. This is when we have to speak slowly and break out the hand puppets, in the case of the followers of liberalism, or just tar and feather them, in the case of the leaders.

For instance, why would you read theFederalist and the like when outrage is their bread and butter? For goodness sake man, did you not see the article on Kanye West and Kim Kardashian three titles down from the one you posted? Outrageous!

It is my opinion that offense is a personal choice. You can choose to be offended or not. Your choice to be offended is not necessarily a good reason for me to change my behavior.

Why? Because it is impossible to please everybody in the whole wide world.

 

Sometimes the computer, internet, connection, ISP, or whatever bogs down and leads you to believe that your post didn't go through. So you try again. <shrug>

 

social media is what runs America these days. Whos on social media? I would guess mainly 15 year olds, the rest would be gov. trolls pushing a issue.

 

Most of the butt hurt I witness online is from older and retirement age folks (late 50's-early 70's)with too much time on their hands. YMMV

I may or may not be offended based on the country of origin of your rum. And whether or not I approve of said rum. Also, it will depend on any additives you might place in the glass with your rum, where your glass was manufactured and also purchased, and finally, whether or not there is fluoridated water in your ice.
