Email/call you state assemblymen and urge them to vote against the following; (taken from an NRA alert)

Assembly Bill 1093, sponsored by Assemblywoman Amy Paulin (D-88), would impose new requirements on firearm retailers and require that they obtain insurance to cover criminal acts committed after the legal sale of a firearm. The companion bill to AB 1093, is Senate Bill 1715, sponsored by State Senator Eric Schneiderman (D-31).

Assembly Bill 1326, sponsored by Assemblyman Steve Englebright (D-4), would mandate handguns be equipped with technology which would prevent them from being operated by children.

Assembly Bill 2881, sponsored by State Assemblyman David Koon (D-135), would ban the possession and use of "frangible" ammunition. The companion bill for AB 2881 is Senate Bill 2379, sponsored by State Senator Frank Padavan (R-11).

Assembly Bill 2882, sponsored by State Assemblyman David Koon (D-135) would provide for the submission of expended projectiles and shell casings and guns to the state police pistol and revolver ballistic identification electronic databank

Assembly Bill 5844, sponsored by State Assemblyman Harvey Weisenberg (D-20), would enact the "children's weapon accident prevention act" and creates crimes of failure to store a weapon safely and negligent storage. The companion bill for AB 5844 is Senate Bill 3098, sponsored by State Senator Eric Schneiderman (D-31).

The following anti-gun bill is scheduled to be heard by the Assembly Tourism Committee on Tuesday, April 7:

Assembly Bill 7183, sponsored by State Assemblyman Steve Englebright (D-4), prohibits the possession of concealed firearms in any park, campground or other recreation area.

this one I'm ok with, but these 2 are ridiculous;

Making gun dealers liable for what private parties do with their own guns! that's not right at all. What devices can you install on a gun that make them more "child proof", we already have trigger locks- also why I'm ok the the first one in my post. If you don't keep your guns locked up and away from kids then YOU should be responsible for what happens- that's just common sense though.

With this most recent incident I have a feeling NY gun laws are about to get a lot worse!

The problem with the child law, consider this what exactly does that mean? A child is anyone considered a minor, that means if while on vacation a teen breaks in your home and gains access to your firearms you are now guilty of a crime. Or in any other case where a minor gains unauthorized access to your firearms. This is just another instance of blaming someone other than the person committing the crime.

You need to read the scary stuff about the kid safety laws and where they are heading. They want to be able to be authorized to once a year come unexpectedly to your home and check to make sure you have your firearms and ammo "properly" stored if you have children.

Also I have HUGE problem with the frangible ammo ban proposed. They act as if these are "cop killer" rounds. They are the furthest thing from that, they are however HOME DEFENSE ROUNDS. THis is the type of ammo that allows you to safely use your rifles as home defense without worrying about roudns going through walls, frangible rounds have very low penetration. They are also referred to as SWAT loads as swat teams use them in urban CQB. This is also just another instance where the State is saying we don't have the right and shouldn't have the ability to defend our homes and selves.

My dad had a device on his guns that prevented me from operating them without supervision.

HIS BELT!!![/QUOTE]

OH NO call the police this man beats his kids!- this liberal BS needs to go out the window. My parents (dad) would light my arse on fire if I got into trouble.
This crap about not putting the fear into your kid with physical punishment is what is spoiling these young kids and causing such disrespect and discipline issues in schools today. I'm only 30 but when I was in school if you acted up you got to go in the hall and have everyone hear you get your butt beat!
...but to not hi-jack the threat, if a kid has open access to a firearm and he's pissed NO belt is going to stop him.

think the childproof thing is a small key inserted into the area between the trigger and magwell. Seen that once.

Got some feedback from a recent CCW course. Over half were denied in an area near albany NY.

Anyone hear how these faired up in albany? Totally seeing the insurance one going through, slow and financially painful death to the little shops..........
