I've been to every country in both Western and Eastern Europe, including Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, etc. In MANY European and EU countries there are CLEAR areas that are "Muslim controlled" for lack of a better way to put it. That said, I've been in many of those areas and have been treated respectfully and courteously. Nothing overtly stood out as being dangerous or worrisome, though I was clearly out-of-place. Many of the shops were eager to have me come in and spend money, and I always try to respect them, their customs, and even their language (though I suck at foreign languages, I think they feel sorry for me).

I wouldn't doubt they could BECOME "No Go Zones" at any moment given the right catalyst.

Anyway,I seem to recall one of our resident Leftists saying this whole no go zone thing was a myth made up by right wingers.
I have made that statement in the past (here is the important part) when the city in question was AMERICAN. I stand by that statement. Let other countries solve their own zoning problems.

In all honesty you aren't the one I was thinking of.
But monsantowhatever has proven that the whole no go zones thing pertaining to the EU is all a filthy right wing lie and the EU is on its way to becoming a healthy, multicultural paradise that the entire world will look to with pride.

And ain't no facetiousness going on here.

While not Islamic, America does have it's own "no-go zones". They are along our Southern Border where the FEDERAL Government has erected signs miles inside our Country's Border telling Americans to stay out for their own safety due to illegals and drug runners.

I believe there are plenty of no go zones in Europe. We have had them here for decades. I got lost in Baltimore one night and transformed into an ATM.

In West Palm Beach there are "communities" that have lovely little Christian children that don't mind shooting you for your cell phone.

My girl asked me if we could visit Chicago. I just laughed.

Somehow an atlas of socially deprived, economically blighted and high crime zones have became mini-Caliphates
Granted there are a few places I don't fancy spending any amount of time in but I could similair places or worse in the US or anywhere else.
Anyone that believes this is wholly immigrant driven disorder should have a good wonder round Naples, Dublin or the East End of Glasgow.

See everybody? told you they don't exist.
In fact I'm willing to bet that all those stories about mass sexual assaults and grooming gangs and common place rape by refugees is all a right-wing lie too! All those women welcome sexual relations with their muslim neighbors no doubt.

Don't you see? The Progressives were right about the richness of diversity and the benefits of multiculturalism(only for white countries though)! Anything negative you hear or read or even see with your own eyes is just a bunch of lies spewed forth by right wing white men who are terrified of not being on top of everything anymore! IT ALL MAKES SENSE IF ONLY YOU WOULD STOP BEING SCARED (and believing anything you read on FoxNews.MSNBC will tell you the truth,so will Youtube) AND LET THE PROGRESSIVES RUN EVERYTHING!!!!

http://www.breitbart.com/big-journa...015/11/16/cnn-owes-jindal-apology-nyt-admits-mythical-muslim-no-go-zones-exist/

This is just one of numerous stories I've found. Want more? Do your own damn research.

Anyway,I seem to recall one of our resident Leftists saying this whole no go zone thing was a myth made up by right wingers.
WTF does "I seem to recall one of our resident Leftists mean"? The original story was that police refused to go to "no go zones" of England. Birham was the focus of a later Fox News reporter. The PM called bull**** and Fox News and others apologized.

The folks who called phony on the "no go zones" story was no less than the PM. The police and people who lived there confirmed it as bull****. The foreign news confirmed it. The rebuttal did not originate from the Times, FYI.

Now to your sad confused with the term "no go zones". "I seem to recall..." is a sorry way to start a post. Apparently, the UK Independent story you cited used the term ironically, referring to a high crime high unemployment area as a "no go zone" FOR TOURISTS and RESIDENTS in BRUSSELS. The reference is made to the quote IN QUOTATION MARKS, not because it was an accurate use of the quote but was being used IRONICALLY.

Breitbart repeats the story un-ironically, as if removing the quotes. Then you post here, completely missing the point of the original article.

Do you go thought high crime zones in the US? I presume no. Same here.

The children's game of telephone comes to mind.

Compare this ABC story of life in a :no go zone:

http://abc7.com/news/muslim-in-paris-life-inside-the-no-go-zones/1088953/

Now actually watch it.

Lesson: I always tell my kids never to use "quotes" or an "ironic" reference when writing. Readers get confused, especially when they really don't know the original context of the ironic reference. Also, stay out of high crime areas.

When ridiculous headlines come out, the only way to combat them is satire. Some folks don't understand sarcasm or satire. It's over their heads. They actually believe it to be true, and then spread it.

Did you know that orgranic crops are being sprayed with dihydrogen monoxide? They are carelessly spraying this chemical into our food supply.

Here we have the highly urbanized inner-cities. In NYC no-go (if you have no business there) places are Co-Op City in the Bronx, Lefrak City in Queens, Starrett City in Brooklyn. These are high rise housing complexes, rent controlled and havens for gang and drug activity. Ironically these planned communities were designed to give the residents and their families a better way of life.

Not sure how it is now, but if you made it through the NYPD Academy, choices once were general patrol, the MTA (mass transit, including bridge and tunnel) or Housing.

Over the years, there were what I considered "no-go" areas in the US. And now there are a few more in other areas.

Over the years:

In the 60s- don't go to Harlem. That has changed somewhat and it's much safer, back in the 60s, it was no place for a white guy particularly after dark.

In the late 70s and into the 80s- lots of NYC areas were places it was smart to steer away from.

Parts of LA have been "no-go" areas in the 70s, but I'm not sure which areas are still bad. But then again, I pretty much refuse to even go into CA as I consider the entire state a "no-go" area.

Same with NJ as a whole.

Here in my state of CT- then are "no-go" areas. Parts of New Haven, Bridgeport, Hartford, and a few other cities are stupid places to go. Those cities have changed over the years since the early 70s when I first started driving. Some areas have gotten better- some have gotten worse.

I wouldn't take my wife to places like Dearborn, Chicago, Detroit, Miami, Altanta, and a few other cities without having serious conversations with the local cops first. I did go to Baltimore for a weekend, but was carefully coached on where to stay and what areas not to go to. Even went to Nashville once but had an in with a local cop who steered me clear of certain areas. That's why I keep up my presence on a few cop forums.

It's not all about any particular race, creed, or anything else. It's about trying to stay current on high-crime areas and visiting area that aren't. Even rural areas around the country can be problematic.

It's risk assessment pure and simple. Minimizing any risk is a key component of that process. To do that you need good intel on the area you are going to. My wife wants to go to CA. I won't refuse her and took her she can go but I wouldn't be going with her. Of course, she's jealous because I have had vacations throughout Mexico, many of the islands and I wouldn't go to many of those places anymore. They were safe enough back when, but not worth the risk now. Plus I dread leaving the US these days. And I don't fly because I hate what the feds have done to that whole process. So I'm very narrow-minded on options. I guess actually, even airports are a "no-go" area for me. ;)

The main ferry port in Calais was closed for several hours after migrants were seen trying to swim towards a departing vessel.

A search and rescue operation was immediately launched and several migrants have been taken to hospital.

There are currently more than 5,000 migrants camped out around the French port.

They have become increasingly desperate since French and UK authorities invested millions of euros in enhanced security around the ferry terminal and Eurotunnel rail terminal.

In recent weeks, other migrants have been caught trying to cross the English Channel in small boats, rather than sneak aboard lorries heading on the Calais ferries and trains.

Last weekend, three Iranian migrants were rescued from a small rigid inflatable off the Sussex coast, near Hastings.

Another three Iranians were picked up in the Channel a few days before that by a Border Force Cutter patrolling the shipping lanes.

And last month, 18 Albanians were rescued from a boat in trouble off the Kent village of Dymchurch. Two British men were also found on board the vessel and have since been charged with people smuggling.

Authorities in the UK and France are on heightened alert for similar attempts and have acknowledged that the extra security at Calais has made many migrants increasingly desperate and willing to risk their lives.

The ferry port at Calais has now reopened and the French maritime authorities have stepped up harbour patrols.
