So, after nearly nine months and lots of frustration I picked up my CCW this morning. You may think WTF, why so long. Well, I live in Southern California. I'm very happy to finally have it as jumping through all the hoops was stupid rediculous. Yeah, yeah, I know how most of you feel about California and I hold a lot of the same feelings but at least I have my CCW and one of the few, at this time, to be legally carrying a firearm in this state. It feels great.:thumb::D:

It's an Orange County permit through the Sheriff's Dept.

How long is it good for?
It's good for a whopping two years then renewal. Typical CA, eh?

What were the hoops and hold ups?
The normal CA wait times for anything involving govt. The biggest part that really ate me up was the time from when I did my Livescan (finger prints) to when they handed me my permit was 19 weeks. Paperwork said 10-12 weeks. I sent feral emails to the OCSD at the 13 week mark and they told me they are still waiting. At 19 weeks I email back and was quite a bit more forceful with them on their timeline. They kept telling me they were waiting for DOJ or FBI back ground checks. I told them they were feeding me nonsense and to look into it...............please! I got an email back the next day saying they have it all and got my permit 5 days later at the OCSD. I think they were just sitting in a stack of CCW files/permits and didn't give a phuck. In the end the whole process is very flawed and takes far too long.

Congrats! Your perseverance is an example to us all.
Thanks. It does feel good. Wish ,ore people from the area would get it.

Yes. I can carry now. But here is the quandry I put myself into. My wife and I have two cars. Hers and my work truck. My work truck is a company owned truck and company policy states no firearms in the vehicle at any time PERIOD! I've been there for 12 years, make real good money and benefits and have seniority. The thing is it is all I have to drive for personal use, which I'm allowed to do after work and on the weekends. I won't carry my weapon on me much in that truck as I value my career. Will mostly carry when we are in my wife's car which we use mostly on the weekend when we are all doing things together. However, I will be ordering a new 2015 Ram 2500 Mega Cab 4x4 next week but it is a 6+ week wait.

Btw, I will not be moving to AZ. And if I did the only place I'd move in that state is somewhere between the Flagstaff, Sedona, Williams areas. Our families ultimate goal is to move to the Bozeman, MT area.
