I was in town this morning it was announced there would be 2minutes silence in the centre they politely invited everyone to join in. Fair enough :thumb:

The time came everyone stopped what they were doing/ saying and just stood, waited, reflected approx 1 minute it we hear voices of 3 people having a jolly old time of it. I'm stood in a shop fuming then 3 old boys all wearing poppy's strolled by just looking at everyone else showing their respect, gas bagging away to each other and laughing.

Older is not always wiser, more respectful or polite imho :taped:.

Yep my 82 year old Dad did that on Sunday during the service, luckily he remained silent for todays.

Iv was in a shopping center a few years back, having a cuppa, when the minute came, an old lady and her carer started to chat through it, but everyone shusshhed them. We later had to explain why, she had totally forgotten.

It was awesome to see the whole of the center in silence. I was fortunate to be in London when thats happened, truely amazing!

God bless are fallen warriors and those that survived.

I was thinking about this the other day,im the first Male of my fathers blood line to live past 42 in my family for 4 generations,my Great Grandfather and Grandfather died in battle and my father who never served died at the age of 42.

I have served my country and lucky for me im still here thank God.

Thats so true, and pretty disgraceful of blokes who should know better

...the RNLI/Coastguard always set off Maroons to start & finish the silence here (you'd have to be deaf to miss them) so was absolute silence in town at 11 today, cars stopped as well, even the hoody young lads, but then I don't think they'd have the balls to disrespect it so publicly even if they didn't care about it.

You'd have to be a pretty cold soul to not be affected by the thousands in silence and everything stopping like it does, I'm glad we still mostly observe it these days :thumb:

I was in ASDA on sunday morning. Its very ethnically diverse you could say. (Lucky me!) They had a 2 minute silence and everyone observed it. Even the Muslims. Then round the corner came a Rastarfarian family. Shopping as normal, totally in defiance. To be honest I thought they had some balls. I would'nt have had the guts to do it. There was alot of people in there aswell.

Even the Muslims.
To be fair, i haven't noticed (atleast in my area) a disproportinate number of any culture or religion not observing.
I think they realise that a fair fiew Muslims have fallen in british war also (on our side.)
Sikhs especialy are observant- they are formidible worriors when the time comes, and many have served alongside our troops in all fields.

God rest those who have fallen- let us make it not in vain.
