Like everything, you hear some like it OK, some don't. I tend to buy whatever the cheapest flavor of plinking ammo is available. Right now, for 9mm it seems to be the Federal aluminum cased.

.308 for 20 rounds is $9.95 and their 5.56 for 30 rounds is $9.95 at Walleyworld in Calif. & NV. 3 weeks ago they had them on sale for $9.95.....stupid me, didn't realize it was sale, thinking it was their new price and only bought 20 boxes of .308.

 

Regular price for 5.56 is $13 however my stupid Walmart only sells 3 boxes at a time. What is even dumber that i can come next day and buy another 3.

 

I honestly think it's to get you to come in more often. The tendency is to buy something else while you are there.

 

All i've ran into here lately of the ZQ1 is too much for the can; however, i've wiped the shelves out of the 7.62x51 at 9.97..

Sales like this are dangerous; just wanna expand my stockpile too much when I see deals like this...

 

I was just under 2moa with their 5.56 out of my A4 clone. I probably could have done better if I had taken my time, but I was fine with it for the price.

 

Yeah, it's good ammo. I just bought 350 rounds of it on sale at Walmart.

 

Just fired 120rnds of the 7.62X51 out of the FAL today, as well as 90 out of the AR, and 100 9mm between the G34 and 26.

All from Walmart when they had their hunting sale a few weeks back.

Not a problem for plinking ammo and I plan on getting more.

 

It's the only ammo that doesn't function in my PTR-91 (fails to eject or ends up about 6 inches away from the rifle when it does eject). Other than that, it seems fine to me.

 

Does anyone have any real accuracy data on these rounds or are you just howling in the dark and shooting at the moon?

 

I have a precision build that is a proven sub MOA shooter out to 300. (Farthest range around here) with MK262. This ammo is 1" @ 100 all day for me

 

Waited in line for a 20% off, no limit sale. When they handed me 3 boxes of .22 lr (ration of the day) I gave it back and asked for all of the 7.62 NATO. They looked at me kind of funny then handed over 35 boxes at $7.99 each. Should've heard the comments of the other people in line...priceless. At least I left the precious rim fire stuff for the true preppers.

Anyway that Turkish surplus 147gr stuff runs through my Tikka T3 tactical with 24" barrel just fine giving up head shots at 300m all day as long I do my part. Best of all it's reloadable. Jihadists beware.

I haven't found any of the 5.56; I did pick up some of the 7.62x51..

Shooting it from a bench rest, I ran into a new problem.. At 100 yards, I was shooting, I would see the first shot, but could not locate the follow up shots thru the scope, even with making slight adjustments to the scope, I was having a heck of a time understanding what was going on. That was until I actually went down to look at the target close up. Yep, I was just enlarging the same hole.. Having 3 bolt guns in .308, one gun really likes it, one gun loves it, and another- well, I'm having issues with that one & its scope.

 

Finally manged to try it and its great. Brass is nicely polished, accuracy is very good and after 60 rounds not a single dud. Fired off the table from bipod.

 

What distance were you shooting at?

 

100m today was bit dark and cold. I guess it could been better on a good day

 

ZQI burned much cleaner and required hardly any cleaning as opposed to Federal.

 

I like it a lot more than the Federal/American Eagle. I have both the 5.56 and the .308.

 

I have had no problems with the 9mm or 5.56. The 9mm is a little snappy but average for accuracy and pretty inexpensive. The 5.56 has shot as good as any surplus M855 I've used and the price is right at $9.97/30rd.

Decent brass for reloading as well.

 

Have about 100 rounds of the 7.62x51 through my DPMS G2 SASS and I'm pretty impressed with it so far. No malfunctions and holds a little over and inch at 100 yards. Not bad for 50 cents a round ammo.

 

Today, since it was cold I went to indoor range and found out something about my ZQI 5.56. Its steel core ammo. Dont know if its good or bad.

 

The green boxed stuff is SS109, the white box is not.
Unless something got mixed up somewhere along the way.

 

I don't even own a 308 and I'm buying the stuff at this price. These days get the ammo cheap now buy the rifle later. I look at it as an investment.
