Soooooooooooooooooooooooo -

I'm sit-in here on the computer - looking out my little window to the world :D:

And I see Fred across the street by his new front door waiting for the bus with his two urchins to show up --- he sees me -- I see him -- we wave Hello ;)

The bus zips down the street - Fred jumps into his anti-American / job stealing / rice burning - honda - or whatever the hell it is - and drives 150' to the corner

Kids come off the bus -- can barely walk for the 17 layers of jackets they have on -- wedge them in the car ---- and backs up to his house --:thumb:

Yea - Yea - Yea -- its cold -- its not as if they had on summer shorts !

My kids had to walk up hill to the bus stop - both ways -- and if they missed the bus -- I drove them --- 5 miles further from school to teach them "never" to be late :thumb:

Reminds me of trick-or-treaters. Mommie drives the little sugar suckers around a half block cul-de-sac 'cause what? Or they all gather at the local church parking lot and go from car trunk to car trunk because walking through the neighborhood is "UNSAFE". Guess mommie or daddy is too busy to walk with the urchins. Geeeze if its that bad, better move, and quick!

I have learned not to sweat the small stuff, what seems illogical to me must seem perfectly logical to the other person. As long as they are not personally affecting me, why should I care?
Well, I think what OP is getting at is that it is another indication of a sissy America that is being nurtured. That does not bode well for our future as a country, or for our society as a whole.

And yes, I would think that, at some point, that WILL affect you, somehow.

Okay, so he's lazy. Easy pickens for someone if the SHTF. I draw the line about the car though. At least Honda didn't ask for a bailout, screw its stock/bond holders and retirees and continue on like nothing happened in order to get someone in office. Also, the life of that Honda is probably double. I'm pro-American, but I have to draw the line at some things. Chevy & GM is off my list forever now...

BTW, in my opinion, most Americans are lazy unless forced to be otherwise.

No problem, I will deal with it, if and when it affects me.

honda cars

Where Are the Various Honda Models Built?

For the American market, a large number of models are produced in the East Liberty, Ohio and Lincoln, Alabama facilities. Models produced at the Ohio location include the Civic sedan and coupe (including GX trims, as well as the Element lines). The Alabama Honda factory handles production of the Honda Odyssey, Pilot and Ridgeline models in addition to the production of the US market V-6 engines. The Honda Accord is the exception to the American produced Honda line, with the Coupe and Sedan models built solely at Honda's Marysville, Ohio facility.

BS on all counter posts. Kids should walk to and from the bus stop. They aren't Fabrege Eggs - they're little people needing to earn up a spot in life. Throw a hockey puck in the street and hand out sticks! Let them play, get sweaty and live life.

We lived too close to the school when our kids were in elementary grades (two miles) and they would walk or ride their bikes most of the time, even when my wife worked at the school.

A road full of kids playing football, hockey or snowball fighting is less likely to be harassed by a sicko. Moreover, pampered kids are needy brats. Staring at a cell phone instead of tackling and hip-checking. Go ahead, get that fight on. It's only bloody noses and it does them good.

Signing off, old school.........

When I was 11-16yrs old (1983-1988ish) I had a 150 HOUSE (not apartment, not condo’s……houses!) paper route. That I did on foot. They had to be delivered by 6:30am every day. Then I walked a little over a mile to school.

I was one of the only kids (or maybe the only kid) to buy a car with their own money when I turned 16 (paper route money).

Most kids are way to pampered these days.

Lets see -- where should I begin

This is the same parent that said to me when I asked him if his newly rebuild house is worth that new alarm system he had installed ( joking sarcasm ;) ) and I was sitting in front of my house with a loaded shotgun in my lap - for two weeks - till the power came back on :thumb:

He said --- "I don’t need guns -- I have a judge and jury on my side"

I bought my first car (1941 Plymouth pickup) with my own money, $15. Spent the next 8 months restoring it from the frame up and another $800 from my job at the furniture store. Still have it in the back yard.

reminds me of one summer not long ago when my 18 year old nephew came to visit me for a couple of months "out in the country".. we shoveled gravel into a wheel barrow to haul to the driveway. yea, at 59 I thought I was outta shape. his hands were blistered and he could hardly walk the next two days...he got a job at the local fast food shop. called me one day and said that he had cut himself and come pick him up. we had drove about two blocks and I asked wheres the cut. he showed me a small nick under a big bandaid. I turned around and took him back to work.......frontloader

Really? How long do you think it will take them to get here.:)
In this area -- the precinct is 6 miles away -- the main firehouse back door ( shift change point ) is 4 miles away -- the closest Dunkin Donuts is 2 miles away :thumb:

The average response time is 20 to 30 minutes

P/S - No cop bashing here - D-D is on a main road centraly located - and they do paper work there - well seen by the civilians ;)

Unbeknownst to Rice Killer, (I have no idea why he hates rice) this line of topic is invigorating. So what should you do if Johnny is coming off the bus and getting into fist talk? What if he's outnumbered?

Both happened to me but my personal experience isn't important - but the concept of what to do as a parent, is. When we played outside sports there were dust ups. Usually just shoving and yelling but sometimes....well...you get it.

Is that wrong to let the youngn's sort things out for themselves or is stepping in worse? Being pulled off by dad if you're winning might be okay; but if you're losing you've been crushed. You're front page news at school and the wimp who daddy needed to save. I'd rather take the bloody nose and dark eye than work around that mental exercise.

Whatta you think, Rice? Parent intervention? Yes, no.
