You can make Hasty Puddin', or just plain old cornmeal mush, with just cornmeal, water, and a bit of salt.

Cornmeal was the staff of life for a lot of people in the past. And it's still good, today. It tends to go bad, especially if you get the non-denatured stuff: But refrigerating or even freezing it will reduce that problem.
