This Yellow cornmeal, is it like the cornmeal I buy at the grocery, I mix with water and then a cornbread can be made without anything more?

That is cornmeal like you buy at the store, but to make cornbread you need flour, baking powder, salt, etc. It's not cornbread mix, but plain cornmeal.

You can make Hasty Puddin', or just plain old cornmeal mush, with just cornmeal, water, and a bit of salt.

Cornmeal was the staff of life for a lot of people in the past. And it's still good, today. It tends to go bad, especially if you get the non-denatured stuff: But refrigerating or even freezing it will reduce that problem.
