That and a few other things :thumb:

And as far as "once in a lifetime" --- 3 is my limit

So what's the question?
Ricekilla posted 2 days ago and forgot about it.
No not at all -- I'm just curious if I can get enough responses for the "Big" question ( at least for me ? ) ;)

Wifey and I have been "discussing" this for a while - I wanna go someplace different but fire arm friendlier than here  She doesn't wanna move any further than Pennsylvania -- so she can be within driving distance to her kids ( I guess the umbilical cord only stretches just so far :xeye: ) And apparently planes don't go past Quakertown

"JEWS" :eek:

I did a little research - I know in New Yuck and Florida - the woods are full of us :thumb:

I was kinda surprised to see there's only about 900-ish in the whole state  Not that I "Need" to be near my own - but it would be nice every so often :thumb:

Do you-all think there would be enough room for one - Republican - Ultra Conservative / German Heritage ( yes I hate myself :xeye: ) / 6' -- 230 lb. / Non Smoker - Non Drinker / Prepper-ish / Domestic Car driving / Israel Loving / Veteran -- with a Wifey who's -- German Heritage / Presbyterian ( a match made in a Bingo Parlor in Babylon :thumb: ) / Republican - ( not so Ultra Conservative as I am ) / 5' 6" -- ??? lbs. ( I'm not that dumb :xeye: ) / Can boil water and microwave with the best of them :thumb: / Domestic Car Driving / Non-Veteran witch I don't hold against her - till she asks questions I don't care to answer / Who doesn't tread water very well and two cats

P-S -- I already own a pair of Tony Lamas and a Stetson :thumb:

People seem nice enough. Hard environment. Drugs/Booze seem to be a problem in Cheyenne.

Not enough water. Fireworks are legal. Curt Gowdy State park was nothing special. Pine bluff is small but Burns is smaller. Larmie is OK as with Casper and Cody.

I (And wife) walked into the Capital during Veterans Day, They had a ceremony for young kids enlisting for all branches with recruiters in Dress uniform and proud parents. Gov Mead standing in front of me with no dog and pony show. No metal detector or screening was required to enter.

Takes some getting used to but glad I am back in Old Colorado City.

Its a hard land from what I`ve heard.
Not really looking for E-Z -- and I don't farm - but I milked a cow once :thumb:

But you can drive there at 95 mph --- forget about getting a decent bagel.
I drive like that now
Image
And bagels are over rated - If I have 3 or 4 a year - that's a lot :xeye:

ricekila the tony lamas cracked me up , because it reminded of the seinfeld episode where he had a pair of cowboy boots " but i dont want to be a cowboy"
If I could still do that kind of "Real" work - and get through the learning curve -- that wouldn't be so bad :thumb:

And no Kinky Friedman jokes --- heard them all - ;)

You may want to research 'culture shock' a little bit.:
Hey -- I worked in Brooklyn and the Bronx -- there's your "culture shock" and that's only 40 miles away

Every time I go across the Tappan Zee Bridge or past Jerzy - my blood pressure must drop 10 points --- I wanna keep it that way :thumb:

Western PA isn't too bad. If you stay NW or North Central PA, I-80 gets you to the GW bridge in a few hours. You just have to get through Jersey

State College is a nice area with more opportunities than most. I'm sure there are more than average (for the region), Jews because of Penn State. But unfortunately, being a college, they probably lean to the progressive side, unless you find the professors from the Science, Math and Engineering department.

There's lots of land around that's relatively cheap, Allegheny National Forest to the northwest and Lake Erie is really cool.

Sate income tax is 3%, local is usually about 1%. Sales tax is 6%

The people are different and it takes time to get used to it. I grew up in Valley Stream and lived in big cities all over the South.

It's called a Synagogue Tex.:D:
Born and raised here. When I was a youngster I thought I was poor and couldn't wait to leave Wyoming. Went right into the military and got to see some wonderful 3rd world vacation spots. Worked and ski bummed all over the nation and decided Wyoming was actually pretty wonderful.
You can keep the rest of it. Montana, Idaho or maybe Alaska look nice but the east and west coasts and ALL of the urban megalopolises are just not suitable for human habitation as far as I'm concerned.

Welcome to Wyoming.:thumb:

Montana

Let's just say that I'm pretty underwhelmed by Montana thus far. I don't know that I've actually met any Montanans yet, but there seems to be no shortage of California refugees and drunk Indians. They just voted in a Democrat governor and re-elected a Democrat senator, and their public school curriculum is pretty leftist. Coming from New York though you might like it better than I do coming from Dixie and the midwest.

I thought Montana was the reddest of states?

Plus I figured most of the lib-**** imports stuck to the plain's side of Montana :)

People in Wyoming are good folks, they don't take any bs and kick ass if they have to.
They like to booze, booze and booze!

Are you looking at high-elevation area's or more the plain's area?

When I lived in Wyoming the roads and area's reminded me of Mad Max a bit. Great long stretches of road etc :)
You even have biker's zooming around and hanging out at gas station's. Very old-school vibes.

The only thing that really buzzed me off was the forestry service passing blanket bans on open-fires ALL through the summer.
So it was propane time for me on that deal.
Also they had fireworks bans also so no 4th July celebrations either.

You'd think that...

But remember I grew up in Jamaica (ok Briarwood which is a place most people doesn't know exists), Queens.

I LOVE Big Sky Country.

You know what's awesome about it?

You can see people coming from miles away.

There's no being snuck up upon.

Folks are actually friendly.

And the beef is to die for.

I haven't signed in yet. Im a native that worked in several western states until I retired and came home to God's Country.

If you locate in a rural area, being an ultra conservative is about the only credentials you need to get along. Cowboy hats and boots only identify you as a pretender, the cowboys are trending towards tennis shoes and baseball caps these days. Now a well used pair of lace up boots would identify you as a working man,, highly respected in these parts.

You will need a pickup truck, It is a fashon statement, but it's also a required tool unless you live in Cheyenne or Casper because you will be needing to go to those places pretty regular to buy stuff that you can't get any closer.

Speaking of those towns, they wouldn't be so much a culture shock for wifey, but you may just as well stay in NY. I kinda like the two BIG cities though because it's only a 20 minute drive to Wyoming from either of them.

Pick-up truck -- no problem :thumb: I always wanted another one ;) and I go through 2 pairs of boots a year :thumb:

my question for you is what do you plan on doing for work?
After running my own little home improvement bizz for years -- I eased into commercial building maintenance -- I say eased because the work - if you can call it that -- is ridiculously E-Z yet the pay ain't bad :thumb:-- But there is no work here with the influx of "Southerners" over the last few years

So as of the middle of last month - I took the early retirement -- witch I'd gladly put on hold - for a real job :thumb:

'Solitude Shock' is what you get going to Wy or similar rural areas. 'Culture Shock' is what you get whey you go back to the city.
Solitude Shock - has never been a problem for me ;) If I wanna communicate with people ----- I come here
