That is an interesting design. I like it.
How does the average Turk afford something like that? USD$50K is a LOT of money.
It is going to break sales records, these prices are welcomed as relatively cheap.
The Turkish govt has been taxing imported cars (and imported electronics) in huge amounts for many years, to both generate income and keeps imports under control. Imported cars usually have taxes around 100% or more.
Car owners also have to pay tax on engine displacement, so 1300 cc and below is the most suitable tax bracket because Türkiye is an oil importing country and we want to import it as little as possible. If someone really want to drive a vehicle over 1300 cc, they have to take into account the extremely high fuel price and have to pay taxes to the govt for the import deficit they will create.
There is still a crazy demand to cars, today you cant find new cars at many car dealerships in TR, the main reason for this is excessive demand for cars, another reason that has emerged in recent months some brands dont send vehicles and vehicle parts to cause supply side price increases (inflation) in TR, for example, a German brand that doesnt have any supply problems in the US doesnt send vehicle parts to Türkiye in particular, their vehicles are among the top selling in TR and they abuse it.
