Its the middle of August and I'm thinking about winter preparations.

Clothing- I need a new Winter Jacket

What do you have/recommend?

I love the look of the Fjallraven Arktis

or the Canada Goose Expedition

lots of $$$$

I'm also getting my truck repaired now while its easier to get stuff done.

I've added a merino wool TAD gear beanie, a USMC neck gaiter

A pair of Outdoor Research Firebrand Mitts are on the way from the states.

What are you planning to do now before its too late?

I have the 5.11 Aggressor Parka, and I couldn't be happier. The removable fleece-liner also acts as it own jacket, meaning you can use this one throughout the seasons.

I guess it's a bit cheaper than Canada Goose and Fjällräven.

I've been thinking about a nice Filson jacket for a while. I tried on one of these this weekend:

Definitely getting myself some coveralls this winter. All black and multipurpose:

Just ordered a new pair of Browning Hell's Canyon pants for bow season:

I wish someone made a WW1 German trench coat.
I have for five years had a wool with cotton liner mid length coat and I love the wool exterior but hate the cotton liner.
I personally like wool and heavy canvas over the plastic coats not because I don't like the colors or designs but because I always freeze my butt off when I wear a plastic coat.

@spec ops, check out reproduction WWII German wool greatcoats. Both the M36 and M40 exists, both were made for hard winter and was of a better design than the WWI ones.
