Winchester Ammunition Announces Price Increase from January 1, 2025.
Posted by Nick Miles on Oct 10, 2024
In a recent announcement, Winchester Ammunition has declared a significant price increase set to take effect on January 1, 2025. This news comes as a stark reminder of the ever-changing landscape in the ammunition industry and underscores the importance of being prepared.
The Details
According to a price letter dated October 9, 2024, Winchester Ammunition will be implementing a price increase ranging from 5% to 10% across all ammunition products. This increase will affect all pack sizes, sub-brands, and special make-ups, leaving no stone unturned in their product line.

Ok, so if your behind in stocking up it's going to cost more and frankly I don't see any relief insight... and that goes for reloading as well, i'm sure our resident handloader's have been sticker shocked at the recent pricing of powders and primers...

You didn't think it was gonna go down did you? Lol. Like Jiminey said, every year. Thats why I started today buying more canned goods and adding dry stuff like beans and noodles to my empty mason jars. Canned goods always go up after the first of the year. And I've done a good job of eating up what I had stored.

Thankfully I have more ammo, powder, primers and bullets along with casting lead than I will ever use. But stocking up is never a mistake. Buy it while you can. The future may be bleak.

Everything has been more and more expensive for quite some time now. Ammo makers are behind the curve. 5-10% is barely a blip.
If they were paying attention they'd be raising prices double that, putting less in the package, and calling it "on sale", all at the same time. Like groceries.

I'm gonna go buy some Winchester ammo after new years on purpose, because they let us know plenty ahead of time they have to hike the price, and aren't even hiking it enough to keep up with real everyday people inflation, instead of feeding us a line of bs like something is a "deal" because it's now marked down to 18.99 from it's regular 20.99 even though we all know it was 15.99 last month.

Good on Winchester I say.

ammo was never as cheap as it was from 2015-2018. 9mm was 17c/round. You couldn't reload it for that price. 223/556 was anywhere from high 20s to low 30s each. 9mm is getting close to that price now, at .22 for american steel case, and 23.5 for the cheapest brass case.

And no one can ever beat or even match targetsportsusa's ammo prime club prices. It's worth the membership fee, at least until they are completely out of stock of what you want.

Winchester .22LR? Not a problem. Ain't buying anymore. Waay too many duds in their "333" and "555"s for comfort.
If you'd said CCI, I'd be a bit concerned. :)

I honestly do NOT buy Winchester ammo, unless it’s stupid cheap. I’ve never found a gun that shoots it well, or a lot of ammo that will group.

But warning retailers about a 5-10% rise? That’s simply a way to push up sales in this quarter. It’s not good customer relations, it’s not anything except trying to meet a sales number and keep the stock holders happy.

I notice that some rounds from the same batch could be louder or quieter than others and their .22 stuff was all over the place.

I would not want to be shooting past 150/200yds at my future Dinner on the hoof using Winchester Ammo,

I'm a CCI guy as far as .22lr but I've never noticed a problem with Win powerpoints being "all over the place" or poor quality in center-fire.

Fan of their 5 ball #000 buck load for .410 too. That stuff will spell the demise of any pig, or anything else a pig might be analogous to...

and as I keep saying, the prime membership gets you free shipping on EVERYTHING, be it 1 box or 50. Many, MANY times I don't buy a full case, as I simply can't afford it. But I can buy a few boxes here and there of assorted calibers, and get them all at 6% off and free shipping. Just a few orders like that and the membership pays for itself.

Only Winchester ammo I like is .22 WMR however I haven't bought any since before covid so don't know if its same quality as it was.
Handgun ammo is ok if cheap enough same with shotgun ammo, I've never shot any Winchester that grouped in my centerfire rifles, so it has to be very cheap for me to buy Winchester center fire ammo

Lake City "winchester" 5.56 runs as good as my older American Eagle, PMC, and even their Korean X-Tac (actually the Winchester seems more consistent than X-Tac but I've not bothered to chrono multiple boxes of each. Bottom line, I've stocked fairly deep on any of the above depending on sales. Earlier this year I was getting Winchester 5.56 at $9.99/box of 20. Certainly not like a few years back at $6.99 but given today's inflated costs of everything, I figured it was about right. At case prices I was getting Federal branded for $450/case. Might be cheaper elsewhere, but this was via my local cop shop. I only have 100 yards range available to me, but given my AR15 platforms are on hand for anticpated backyard zombie plinking.

I was looking at what Academy is selling 9 mm range ammo for. Current sale prices on their Monarch and Blazer (brass case) is now going for 24 cnts/rnd and steel at 20 cnts/rnd. The brass case prices are getting close to what I was paying back in 2012. I show my bulk buys online back then at 20.5-21.5 cnts/rnd and brick and morter running 22-26 cnts/rnd for brass case including PMC and Federal. Interesting on how far this stuff has fallen. The lower prices were pre Sandy Hook and the slightly higher were shortly thereafter.

Of course other than 9 mm I still see most stuff 2x or more from 12 years ago whether it is rifle, pistol or shotgun. We shall see if others follow Winchester's lead.
