i have a winchester 1300 defender. it has a 22 inch barrel with rifle sights and not the true glow. my question is i am setting this gun up as a tatical shooter/home defence gun. does anyone know why this gun has a 22 inch barrel and not an 18 inch like all the other ones i see? also would the rifle sights be ok for a close combat gun?

Thats a good question. I had a 20ga Defender that I just sold and it had an 18" barrel. I really liked the gun but wanted a 12ga. I went with a Mossberg 500 but would have liked to have found a 1300 used.

Tell me are you messuring the barrle alone or on the gun? Im not sure if that makes a differnce at all.

i measured on the gun but the end of the barrel sticks out at least 2 inches from the mag tube and i can hold 8

My 20ga held 7+1 and it was an 18" barrel. I think they are always a little over the mark on the barrle length.

Do you have pictures of the gun?

Don't know about the 22" bbl ( but also don't know why you're worried about that), but if it didn't come with rifle sights (like mine did), it's probably not a deer slug( like it says on the barrel) and was probably meant for bird.....Tac shooter and home defense are 2 different things. Tac shooter and rifle sites, yes.....HD, hi vis front site and lite.

Are you referring to me? Sam? Download "Personas" on Firefox, they are "themes", the particular one on my computer now is called "Brown Bag". Click on Tools for the dropdown menu, you may already have Personas on the computer, if not google it. There is quite an extensive gallery of themes.
