Hypothetical question (well, maybe not so hypothetical!)...Post SHTF...2 scenarios...


1- A single person approaches you and your family at your home or BOL waving a white flag.

2- A group of people approach, and one breaks off walking towards you waving a white flag.

What would you do? I ask this because I would imagine that at some point in time after the SHTF, people will have to start making contact with others, either to trade or pass news along, etc.

If i am in a group that is being approached, i would go out and see what they want..After placing my people on alert..But "IF" i raise my hands up as if surrendering,their entire group would be wiped out..

yes. i honour the white flag (though i'd shout to the person how and where they were to approach, or tell them to wait until full daylight). if you shoot a person with a white flag, thats the same as saying we aint taking no prisoners. (and it goes both way, imo).

I have also thought about this and I still can't get passed the idea of DON'T TRUST ANYONE. Having said that I'm sure that there will be people using the white flag because they have only good intentions but I always fall back to the famous words of
Admiral Ackbar "It's a trap!"

Be cautious and alert in all situations.

Alert others in my group if there are any and if possible.

Acquire target. Anyone could be a possible enemy.

What are they wearing? Carrying anything? Weapons? Can I make out facial expressions? Is this a possible ambush? What is there distance from this person or persons?

Situation will determine EOF/ROE. Establish communication verbally, by hand signals, or by fire.

I would warn them that we are heavily armed and visitors are not welcomed. As far as I'm concerned, any stranger coming towards my home is a threat. Unless you are a close friend or family member, you're not welcomed within 50 feet of my front door.

Post shtf visitors will be there to beg or steal. Unless you have a need that these people might meet (and you have no way of knowing that beforehand) how would you know?

I think the key is avoiding people long enough for the die off to wipe out gangs and the folks who have ruined America. Then the restoration can start.

Though I would honor it, I would pay the white flag itself minimal attention (while keeping them covered,of course). If there's a threat, it sure as hell ain't coming from the white flag.
Me and my bros would have our eyes on the flanks, and our rear, because that's where the assault will be coming from if the white flag is a ruse............ Right ?

No. I have a tall chain link fence. They can stand on the other side of the fence and wave the flag until they're blue in the face. I may or may not choose to respond. They have nothing I want and I have no handouts. If I respond it will be me listening by sound amplifier and responding by megaphone. I won't be drawn out.

But as soon as they attempt to breach that fence, they have shown their intentions as hostile, white flag or not. Especially considering I intend to put stern warning signs on the fence after the SHTF.

There will be a lot of white flag waving in an attempt to gain confidence by attackers too. I don't intend to fall for it.

I once saw a post in a thread here that stuck in my mind. "If I don't know you before the SHTF, I won't know you afterwards."

I would anticipate many ruses for gaining entry, a white flag being one of them, so I would not give it any more credence than simply a stranger approaching.

how are they approaching?
how far along into shtf are you?
how are you situated?

too many factors.

but the best one is to trust your instinct. it will save you.

In vocal distance I shout "only one person". Then we talk.

I think 99% of us are going to say "it depends".

Somethings are just not black and white. You need to tell us exactly the scenario in your New Jersey accent.

hypotheticaly for the flag of truce to be flown you have to be fighting first

and second part to your hypothetical is it depends on if i hear that tricks being used like the rep guard in iraq surrendering then pulling out aks once americans get close ima start greasing folks only takes one time go for that to be invalide

now that being said for those who would say theyd grease someone under the wite flag it raises the stakes for both sides to a take no prisoners type thing
