Just seen on the News saying that ol Sleepy joe has warned china if they support putin that the US will take action towards china, That could prove interesting depnding on what the facts are regarding that conversation,

Maybe a chance for the US to try some home grown products, Maybe not but it would open up a new market for the US and other producers of modern industry,???

Highly unlikely IMO

Maybe he implied something about their trading inport / export relationship, who knows what was said, But I can see china making the right noises publically but sneaking in weapons to russia via the back door like they have with other countries,

After chinas secretcy over covid I can't see them ever telling the truth when it comes to any topic, and they will go back on their word just like they did with the UK over Hong Kong.

Yeah, I saw this yesterday too. Wouldn't that be something? So, first off I asked myself, "How would it be any different from what we are doing?"
It's all BS IMO. I have a hard time believing any "redline" from the XiDen admin anyway. 'Spose we'll see.
Yep, Ol sleepy just does not seem to have the get up and Go to make such a plan stick, I don't know the man or his views but he always appears like his almost out of gas,

And didn't Biden kill a Trump trade agreement that had China on notice?
That was the dumbest thing Trump ever did tbh
China just switched trade to other countries, bought up all their industries, slapped a "made in bongo-stan" label on it and shipped it to America anyway
Trade tariffs alway end up hurting those who impose them, this has been true since Europeans banned trade with other colonial powers

With a bought & paid for China puppet in the Oval Office >>> I don't know why China - or Canada for that matter >>> doesn't declare war on the US and ask for the country's surrender ....

they'd have to wait a week for the Biden stage play to be written & rehearsed >>> but there's 80% chance the last secure door to the country will be propped open for a friendly invited invasion ....

It comes down to leverage. What leverage does the US have over China to try and make them do what we want? Frankly it seems we don't have much leverage at all. Any sort of trade war with China will hurt us probably far more than than them due to our dependence on essential Chinese goods. The time to do that was 30 years ago, I am afraid it is probably far too late to play hard ball with China.

I am guessing the Chinese know this all too well, and that they are likely to continue to do whatever they think is in their interests regardless of how much we stamp our feet.

I suspect that if they sell/give the Russians military equipment we will probably try to find some way to leverage Taiwan. Maybe we would offer something like the stopping of weapon sales to Taiwan in exchange for their neutrality in Ukraine? That might actually have a chance of working but it's hard to say. The point is, idle threats won't work, we would have to give the Chinese something they actually want.

Spitfire,

I'd omit the word "probably".

Look at the US embargo re the Ukr-Ru conflict. US business' were hurt more than that of Russia.

China knows more about what's going on than their counterparts here in the US. They are organized. Here, we're not.

Ban Chinese imports?

Don't be silly.

What would Walmart, Dell, Microsoft, HP, and all these U.S. companies that have outsourced production and jobs to China have to say? They've made HUGE profits moving U.S. jobs to cheap, low-wage, no OSHA and no EPA countries like China.

No politician in his right mind would try and shake that gravy train.

The uproar would be deafening.

from consumers also... We dont buy quality US made products anymore.. Why buy one quality item that will last 20 years when you can keep buying the same piece of crap from walmart or harbor freight every other year

If China sends equipment to Russia then America could send equipment to Taiwan then China could send equipment to Mexico then America could send equipment to India then China could send equipment to Trudeau/Canada. Who knows ... maybe it would drag us out of Bidenflation.

With the amount of Pharmaceuticals Companies making Vitamins and Real Drugs I don't think it would take that long to convert a lot of them to making drugs. Some of the Companies I go too have high security
There is a plant out east that I visit once in while that only makes injectables and no they tell me what they are. With security at the gate and door and have to be escorted whole trip. One I go too they inspect my tools coming in and going out. Another couple in Jersey if go to one Monday I can't visit the other one for two days to make sure no contamination.

Not just components but even raw materials, and country of origin isn't sometimes listed. On top of that, you also can't tell if U.S. companies have Chinese owners.

Finally, given the topic thread, many countries, including allies, aren't cooperating concerning sanctions on Russia. That means those criteria will have to be expanded substantially.
