Some very good points made and I appreciate those who made thoughtful posts. I have learned quite a bit about bitcoin and some other cryptos recently but I would never claim to think I know it all. But there is a lot of misinformation from people who have no idea about bitcoin and somehow have an absolute hatred for it. I don’t understand. There are many reasons a person may not want to buy in, but having a basic understanding would help articulate a better understanding for others.

I am still on the fence about buying in, and I don’t think the valuations will be moving upward anytime soon. Which gives more time to learn and make a plan. I absolutely will buy a hardware wallet like to store bitcoin on and will to leave it on an exchange or lend it out to earn interest. I know that much.

Besides watching the values, I a man still concerned about regulations and how that will affect things. And also with the next bitcoin halving coming, how that will affect things as well

I think Bitcoin is going to be here for a while. You see, black hat hackers use Bitcoin to extort hundreds of millions in payments from people/corporations/governments to make ransom payments so that their systems can come back online.

They even have a name for the software the hackers use called "ransomware" and if you read the security sites like I do every day, you see the entities getting attacked.

Now there is word that the Federal Aviation systems in Philippines, USA and Canada have been hacked....Bitcoin is up and someone is buying a lot of it(for payments to ransomware gangs).

I did not watch the video. I assume from your post it is about hackers demanding payment in bitcoin? I don’t know, I am guessing.

What effect does this have on bitcoin?

Yeah... like 99% of global crimes use USD so the "crypto is only used by black markets and hackers" arguement always makes me laugh. Yeah, they use an easily traced public ledger whose accounts can be flagged for their nefarious dealings... but hey, look at this impossible to trace PM or cash that the bad guys would never use.

The video's presenter is trying to understand whether the systems were hacked or not, given the fact that all 3 major systems went down within 2 weeks. Then, miraculously bitCON goes up during that period.

Take your head out of your *** and think, that is what the video is trying to get you to do.

It's as simple as supply and demand. When someone buys lots of bitcoin, prices go up.
 BTCs pump isn't being driven by ransomware. Ransomware cost ~ 20B in 2022. Even if 100% of that was going to BTC it would be a drop in the bucket. Remember, the ransomed BTC still needs to be sold right?

We've had a general negative downward trend for global macro for 18 months. If there are signs that a bottom has been reached or is close, of course markets are going to pump and crypto is the most responsive of markets to positive news.

He admittedly said it was speculating, but sure it is possible. But determining the the reason for valuation fluctuations in the most volatile asset in the world is speculation at best. The real reason is cascading liquidations of short positions. Bitcoin will continue to rise and drop in valuation and there is no conspiracy behind why that will happen. It’s the normal cycle for volatile assets.

One thing Tucker failed to mention is that almost every other crypto made equal gains as well...including DOGE, SHIB, DOT, ETH, etc etc. So that would mean the hacker was demanding payment in something like all of the top 100 coins, thus driving the market cap to 1trillion? I think not

Good points. Entire market was short and a lot of them lost their shorts. One of the many reasons I don't play with margin.

Bitcoin’s value has increased around 35% since this thread started. Signs are looking favorable for it to continue to increase medium term. Some still are calling for a lower low, due to macro economic conditions but others are saying the bottom is in. In reality, nobody can really forecast such a volatile asset, but the big picture looks like it is not going away IMO.
