Why's it so hard to get others to prep?

Perhaps they are optimistic?

I think that attitude is extremely important. However, I think there is a definite distinction between hope and optimism. To me optimism implies that one ASSUMES that all will be well. In my line of work, this approach to any issue usually leads to disastrous results.. :
