Why? Why? Why?

I am still a fairly new member to the board (about 1 month) and do NOT understand for the life of me politics. Perhaps some of you can help me.:

Why in the world are politicians and main stream news telling us that the recession is over....NO not that we are in a depression but that we have fully recovered from this economic snafu. I spit out my wine last night when a news reporter announced this! Sure enough after a search on google countless politicians, news papers, and politically run blogs are singing to the heavens that this recession is O-V-E-R! Woo hoo everyone can go on spending like millionaires in Vegas. :D:

Again I feel like an alien residing on this planet. Can someone please explain this to me?? Why so much misinformation is being launched at the public now claiming the worst is over? Why now when this country is in the midst of so much economic turmoil? Truly I do not understand. Sorry for my naivety.;)

According to the economic gurus from various places like Harvard Kennedy School's Belfer Center's Lawrence H. Summers, Martin Feldstein, and Paul Volcker. Up to two thirds of the US gross domestic product is driven by consumer spending. So if consumer credit, is harder to get people cannot live the way they have been, "beyond their means". The economy has become a huge Ponzi scheme in it's current state it is not sustainable. We are donig the same thing now that so many other empires have done in the past, consuming ourselves. Our investment system is so complicated that even the experts do not have an adiquate understanding of where the money is. The big banks like Citi have to keep hundreds of people on the payroll just to unravel a bad hedge fund investment when it implodes. There is no way to keep the United States status quoe going unless some hard fundimental changes are made. We have become a consumption nation since WWII. If you look at the end of the great depression WWII is what pulled the United States out of the hole. I think it will take a world shaking event to kick the average sheeple into action. Assuming no explosive world changing event occurs we will most likley continue in a very slow downward spiral.

Here are a few things that come to mind:

1) They think it will take some of the heat off of their a$$es from their constituents.

2) They are doing it as propoganda as a means of trying to boost consumer confidence and therefore boost the economy.

3) They are misreading the stock market and real estate market as "good signs." I think FranchiseKid detailed why the stock market is looking up and I think the $8K "first-time-home-buyer" tax credit has created a temporary positive bump in the housing market, which will only be short-lived.

4) They are doing this to boost confidence in the overall economy of the US to help pass the healthcare bill.

5) They are trying to look good for the upcoming 2010 elections.

:wow I just read your post, it made me spit my diet coke, are they insane? I would love for this planet to get back to normal but there are to many greedy crooked people that are controling our politicians and the media, probably a major part of the world for that matter. I guess I'm an alien too... hmmm...maybe they are aliens:space

They see the stock market up and they think that the recession is over. In reality, the corporations are getting higher numbers because they are getting more money because they laid off all of their people, of course their numbers are higher. Another reason is that they are trying to gode you and everyone else in the country to sink that last little bit they have in the savings to buy into stocks. I wouldn't buy silver or gold rather than worthless paper garbage.

It's simple. They are trying to delay the moment of truth ...the time of reckoning, for as long as possible.

They have corrupted just about every measure that could be used to gauge the state of the economy and of the pulse of our society, just so that they can make these absurd claims.

With these claims, these lies...they are keeping a large number of people still confused enough that they don't throw the towel in (and in many case don't pick up their rifles).

If you really watch the news (and when I say watch the news I mean news from everywhere, not just TV) you will notice that there is a huge effort underway to establish a military and police internal structure, to pass hand tying legislation and to basically kill every aspect of the traditional western freedom. They are putting the oppression and repression apparatus in place as fast as they can but still, they need a bit of time.

The way they are buying that time is by blowing smoke up people's arses and to a certain degree, it is working.

The truth of the matter is that life as we have known it is over, in every way. Very dark times are on the horizon and those who are buying the state's lies and are not preparing for the Armageddon that is coming are not gonna make it.

Of course, as you will see, the usual government puppets will follow hot on my heels and mock everything I said, make all sorts of comments involving tin foil hats and overall add their efforts to that of big brother, to try and keep people confused and second guessing themselves.

Find the conviction to stick with your preps, don't be ashamed to be paranoid as it isn't necessarily a bad thing no matter what some internet strangers tell you and whatever you do, don't let them pull you back into the system and into their pyramid scheme of so called investment.

And that's all I've got to say about that...

"4) They are doing this to boost confidence in the overall economy of the US to help pass the healthcare bill."

As Tacoma said above (Bing, Bing, Bing... you hit the jackpot)

Also BO's buddy's have not got all of their money out of the market yet so they need it to stay a float until their flush.

I also think (from the peps I have talked to) that we are close to an uprising and they are trying to get us into the winter months to hunker down and gives them more time (Spring) until the cresendo builds once again.

Yes...the recovery is on...

In the mean time, governments everywhere are preparing for massive die offs and since I am sure that they know very well that the swine flu is not a real danger (they must know since they are the ones who are hyping it up as a scare tool and population control measure) ...since they know that the swine flu is harmless, you gotta ask yourself, why the millions of disposable coffins and body bags?

Flu scare a boon to body-bag sales
As concerns grow of a possible flu pandemic onslaught this autumn, alert authorities worldwide have been stockpiling emergency supplies. Masks, gloves and anti-viral medications are on the list. And body bags.

Demand for the latter is prompting a surge of interest in the wares of a small Toronto custom bag manufacturer named Trevor Owen Ltd. Inquiries about its pandemic body bags are pouring in from as far away as the Sultanate of Oman on the Arabian Peninsula.

TREVOR OWEN recently shipped several thousand of the thick plastic bags – sewn in its Scarborough factory and touted for their ability to "prevent leakage and seepage of bodily fluids" – to Alberta. It is bidding on a contract to supply Ohio with 12,500 of the white woven polyethylene pandemic bags.

"Some seniors' residences are starting to buy five, 10 or 15 at a time," said Trevor Owen president Pierre Barcik.

"There are state and provincial governments that are starting to stockpile pandemic body bags ... It's a bad pun, but (the business) is growing."

Trevor Owen is not the only supplier thriving because of the fears. Richard Miller, owner of the U.S.-based web portal ToDieFor.Biz that sells a line of body bags, said demand has doubled this year.

Although the competition is considerable, Barcik's company appears to have found a niche with its pandemic body bag, which differs from the bag typically used to transport and temporarily store the dead.

Some recovery!

It isn't over.it isn't really getting better. They put out the info they want you to hear, but they never fully explain anything, and they fail to compare things to previous ,good times. In other words it is better than it was a month ago ,but it is still crap, compared to a year ago. Another reason it is recovering,is because there are elections next year,so the guys up for re-election and their friends have to make you think they have saved us,so that we don't fire their asses.
