not much said there that isnt common knowledge.
no one can call me racist or a baiter. i married a black man. from a totaly white upbringing, i was thrust into the black culture.
as a general rule, what i found was the total reverse of the moral and ethical values that i was taught growng up. breaking your word, laws, and the norms of society were excepted in that arena. there were no boundries, from stealng, lie'ing, to drinking druging and driving around so drunk they couldnt speak or walk. the phrase ' i know my limits' were common place, in a total disreghard for the laws,....
Ive lived it, and thankfully never compramised my values before his ass hit the curb. Still today, I see a certain segment of our city, every morning, when I am buying coffee, getting ready for another day of work, I stand in line behind the youth, two or three 40 ounce beers in hand, getting ready to start their day.
People often judge from afar. I had the people coming in, offering tools, guns, and electronics for sale, pennies on the doller, just oping to unload their stolen items to get a can of beer or a score of drugs. Ive seen the guys get a job, then show up and fall asleep in the corner because they are still drunk from the night before.
The issue never addressed, spoken by my ex just a few days ago, when asked by me when is enough enough @ drugs and drinking, he replied, " 90% of the black people, young and old, men and women, are drinking and useing drugs. I ( HE ) cant escape it, its everywhere".
To make a sustainable change in that culture, it has to start with the parents. children learn from them. and the current group of parents, at least in my area, are not setting examples or enforcing standards that will produce, productive, honest, law abiding citazens. effectvly, they are a mirror image, of their parents.
there exists in that culture also, a feeling of entitlement. that 'above the law, the rules dont apply' attitude. ive seen first hand the outright denial of an action, that " once i got it out the door you cant prove i stole it or that its yours" mentality.
Its a sad, and scarey culture that exists, yet so many have no clue as to the extent in which it exists.
In my raising up, all the "atta girl's" were Null & Void with one " Oh ****" , in black culture, the Atta Girls always get put out as " aint she an angle" it dont matter that she a drunk, without virtue, or a leader of her local gang, she cant do no wrong.... .
