Whistleblower on Ukranian Communications...real deal or fake news?

Didn't see a thread on this yet.....so the story allegedly goes that during communications with Ukraine's new president, Trump insinuated that Ukraine would get defense aid if they pursued an investigation into Biden's son. That defense aid had been allocated by Congress but held up by the WH after they wanted a review of whether it's in the US's best interest.

Rudy Giuliani admitted that they had asked Ukraine to investigate Biden's son but not that they offered anything in return.

Whistleblower heard something (supposedly a promise that was made) that alarmed them enough to go through the federally protected channels that exist. The IC's Inspector General (a Trump appointee) received the complaint and deemed it serious enough to continue the process which includes notifying Congress but the DOJ is preventing him from meeting with the House Intelligence committee and discussing specifics.

For Trump's part he denies he did anything wrong of course and claimed the whistleblower is highly partisan. Which begs the question of whether he knows who it is? I'm not familiar with the federal whistleblower law but does it protect the identity of the whisteblowers? And if so then how does Trump know who did it?

EDIT:

Trump just had a press conference where he was asked about the situation.

Said that the whistleblower is a partisan person but also said he didn't know the identity.

Said his phone conversation was beautiful and that he always acts appropriately...when asked if he discussed Biden he responded that it doesn't matter what he discussed.

More FAKE NEWS! To whom was it said??? What was said??? More bull ****!

Why aren't they investigating Biden for threatening the Ukrainian president with the withholding of aid money when he was Vice President unless the Ukrainian prosecutor dropped the investigation into his son???

Why aren't they investigating Biden for setting up his son with a multi-million dollar deal with China when he was Vice President???

The Democrat Party is crumbling and they are just throwing as much **** against the wall as possible in a last ditch effort to bring down our duly elected president.

Well that's part of the issue...Trump's DOJ is blocking Trump's appointed IC Inspector General from discussing the whistleblower complaint (which includes the answers to your questions) with the House IC Committee. The Inspector General said he has to abide by the DOJ's decision even though he disagrees with it.

So something was said...they just don't want the House IC to hear it. If it was a big nothing burger then I'm not sure why the DOJ would block the normal procedure the IG was following that's set up for this sort of thing. Seems like suppressing the info is making it into a bigger story.

According to the latest reports President Trump spoke with the Ukrainian president and asked him a number of times to investigate Biden's involvement with Ukraine. He has a perfect right to ask as long as he didn offer something in return.

NO quid-pro-quo was alleged.

However, the investigation of Biden's son was ended when the Vice President threatened to hold back aid money to Ukraine if the prosecutor investigating his son wasn't fired. That should be investigated!

This is another "nothing burger" that will be forgotten in a week. Then they will come up with some other nonsense with which to accuse the president.

WALL STREET JOURNAL (3 hours ago)
"...Mr. Trump in the call didn’t mention a provision of U.S. aid to Ukraine, said this person, who didn’t believe Mr. Trump offered the Ukrainian president any quid-pro-quo for his cooperation on any investigation. ..."

Fake news.
Probably a dozen people on that call, always are. And one deep state lib uses whistleblower protections to cast some BS to try and hurt Trump.

"Whistleblower" is a little bit genius, got to give it to them. By law he/she can't be retaliated against, has protections from exposure, etc....

It's still all crap, but well played crap.

They're trying to inoculate Biden in time for the general election. This is the guy who openly boasted about blackmailing Poroshenko, solely to protect his own crooked kid. Trump can make mincemeat of him on that one event alone.

Lots more detail in the book Secret Empires by Peter Schweizer. Biden is as dirty a pol as The Pantsuit and/or Harry Reid. He's been so dirty for so long I thinks it's normal.

From April of this year:
https://thehill.com/opinion/white-h...hite-house/436816-joe-bidens-2020-ukrainian-nightmare-a-closed-probe-is-revived
“I said, ‘You’re not getting the billion.’ I’m going to be leaving here in, I think it was about six hours. I looked at them and said: ‘I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money,’” Biden recalled telling Poroshenko.

The President's confidential conversations should remain just that--confidential. What World leaders are going to be willing to talk to our President if they know the conversation will be blabbed to the whole world.

The 'whistleblower' should be charged with espionage.

LOL, that's crazy talk. The whistleblower did exactly what they are supposed to do and went through the proper channels under the law. Trump's own appointed IC Inspector General stated the complaint was credible and was processing it like he was supposed to until the DOJ pumped the brakes.

These President to President official phone calls always have administration people listening and transcribing...it's part of the law under the Presidential Records Act.

If the call was as appropriate as Trump claims he could easily let the complaint go forward to the House IC Committee but I'm guessing it just sounds bad (if he's repeatedly asking them Ukraine to investigate)....I don't believe he offered to trade aid funds for an investigation but there's a reason they don't want that complaint to go forward.

Now that the story's out though they're making lemons into lemonaide and getting the story on Biden's story out as hard as they can which kind of accomplishes was he wanted in the first place when he was talking to Ukraine's president.

I don't believe that Team Trump orchestrated this. The Dims are running out of methods to use in their never ending quest to oust the duly elected president and are getting desperate and sloppy.

President Trump knows how to handle these never ending attacks on him. I think he is holding back making the text of the conversation public in order to keep the media focused on this. When the time is right the media will eat crow one way or the other.

This is 4D chess at its highest level. You hit this president and he will hit you back ten times as hard.

KEEP AMERICA GREAT! TRUMP IN 2020!!

Trumps says Europe must do more to help the Ukraine! I like the Ukrainians and I even have Ukrainian relatives but let’s be honest what European government wants to get tangled in the inept and corrupt institutions that run the place? And Russia acts like a spoiled teenage girl anytime the EU throws the Ukraine a bone, it’s just not worth it at the moment no matter how much the people need a leg up.

I reckon Trump promised to lean on everyone else to bail out the Ukraine in return for Biden’s head on a platter prior to 2020

Well, well, well. Ukraine asked HIM for cooperation in the Biden investigation, rather than the other way 'round. Apparently requests from Ukraine directed to lower DOJ and Foggy Bottom officials were being stonewalled. Deep State again, again.

Read the comments.

Both Poroshenko and Zelensky administrations had tried, unsuccessfully, to get information to current U.S. officials. U.S. State Department officials in Ukraine were refusing to give visa’s to Ukrainian emissaries because they did not want the damaging information sent to the President Trump administration.

Failing to get help from the U.S. State Department, the Ukranians tried a workaround, and hired a respected U.S. lawyer to hand deliver the documentary evidence directly to the U.S. Department of Justice. The contracted American lawyer hand-delivered the information to the U.S. Department of Justice in New York.
We're also finding out today that said "whistleblower" is just repeating a rumor; he/she isn't a primary source at all.

More muckraking from The Conservative Treehouse.

https://theconservativetreehouse.co.../09/22/its-deja-vu-all-over-again-the-ukraine-effort-is-simply-obstruction-2-0/

Players in the "whistleblower" scheme are eerily similar to those who cooked up the Muh Russia Obstruction hoax.
It should be emphasized the Inspector General for the Intelligence Community; the guy who accepted the ridiculous premise of a hearsay ‘whistle-blower‘ complaint, who was “blowing-the-whistle” based on second hand information of a phone call without any direct personal knowledge, is Michael K. Atkinson.
Put another way, Michael Atkinson was the lawyer for the same DOJ-NSD players who: (1) lied to the FISA court (Judge Rosemary Collyer) about the 80% non compliant NSA database abuse using FBI contractors; (2) filed the FISA application against Carter Page; and (3) used FARA violations as tools for political surveillance and political targeting.

Yes, that means Michael Atkinson was Senior Counsel for the DOJ-NSD, at the very epicenter of the political weaponization and FISA abuse.

The Inspector General (appointed by President Trump) believes it’s a serious issue. That’s enough, according to the law, to have the complaint and the underlying evidence released to the Congressional Intelligence Committees. If the DNI doesn’t turn those things over, he’s committing a crime and should be prosecuted or impeached. Those are facts, not fake news.

President Trump has admitted that he mentioned Vice President Biden and his son several times in his conversation with the Ukraine leader. That alone is enough to show the President is inept. Whether that’s illegal or not, it definitely shows an “appearance of impropriety.” President Trump doesn’t know how to be President and he appears to be too dim or stubborn to learn.

Serious issue? LOL The fire is already out and the smoke is wafting off into the distance as another FAKE NEWS story burns itself out.

The "whistle blower" turned out to be parroting second hand information and did NOT have direct knowledge of the conversation. There was no "quid pro quo," so you may not like that the president discussed Biden's corruption in Ukraine with the Ukrainian president, but it's NOT a crime. Finally, President Trump will be making texts of the conversation public in coming days.

Now that this FAKE NEWS is old news the swamp will be working on their next FAKE NEWS report. Stay tuned for more bull **** from the Democrats and their leftist news media allies. :thumb:
