Im in the market for a sub 600$ 1911, here's the following requirements

-Must be reliable, i don't want one that's been known to have feeding/extracting/jamming issues. Has to work right out of box.

-I want the bells and whistles. Hollowed trigger, Extended slide release, Beavertail. Also an Ambidextrous safety(not required but it would be nice)

-Finish, Im not too picky, a nice smoothe bluing. Not a fan of stainless or pakerized.

-Sights, i prefer Novaks but a standard military sight will work as well, only thing i steer clear of is "Target Sights" i dont like them they really slow me down.

Other tha hat i dont really care, as long as it shoots strait and doesnt shoot LOW "i HATE a gun thats shoots low" im good. heres the following guns ive been looking into and id like to know your thouhts on them and pros/cons/anything bad or good you've heard. Im leaning towards the American Classic 2, but it has a few aesthetic features that i find a bit annoying. Id like to know anything about the 2 i linked, and any others ive missed. i dont wanna spend over 600 dollars out the door.

I got this one for $450 but it was a limited sale. I'm not sure what he would let one go for currently.

The owner does internet sales so you could give them a call and see what they would sell one for.

your asking too much for that price,,,

Try a Rock Island Armory 1911,,they have a few models that have more bells and whistles than others, but not sure they come in under your $$ limit.

for the money they are a fine weapon. My father had one and it performs as well as my Kimber, better if you consider the price difference between the two. IIRC, there was an article in a magazine where they tourture tested a Colt a Kimber and a R.I.and the RI held it own splendidly. ( BTW if anyone else knows what article im talking about, perhaps they could refresh my memory as to what mag it was from)

I have an RIA compact, can't say enough good things about the pistol, RIA and the value they represent. That said, the 'Bersa' is actually made by Metro Arms (another Phillipine company) and is getting good reviews. If their CS is as good as RIA then I think it's a great value.

RIA is proven, the Bersa hasn't been around as long - but sure is tempting...
For the few extra dollars though, the track record of the RIA pistols, and their known exemplary CS would be worth it to me.
Of course, it's your money! ;)

ETA: The other thing I would be concerned about is if the Bersa is mil-spec.
I noticed that it has a slightly longer barrel (5.1 inches vs 5), so I wonder if there are other parts that are slightly different.
This only matters if you are trying to modify or fix something, but may factor into a decision.

Here's a link to a comparable RIA for $53 more:

i think ill go with the Metro, just because the RIA is Pakerized and i think pakerizing is ugly as hell and this gun im gonna do some mods just to make it look nicer.

Im going to use a buffing wheel on my dremmel tool and polish the bluing off the Trigger, Hammer, slide release, and safety and polish it to a mirrored finish to create a nice 2 toned effect, im also going to add a stainless or nickle'd Bushing Compensator, i know it wont do any good at recoil reduction, i just think it looks awesome and gives it the look of a long slide. It wont be a carry gun, but a nice plinker that looks awesome. also gonna make my own custom grips for it

Gonna spend 600, just save an extra few hundred and go with a Springfield Armory.

The resale is WAY higher on a known named brand.

I have a RIA which is Parkerized and I also think that a Parkerized finish is uglier than hell (on a 1911). I like my RIA, but with the extra features offered on the Metro, I would have gone for one if I had seen it first. BTW, I totally plan on refinishing my RIA in a black Duracoat or Ceracoat.

my AK-47 is Pakerized and its my only complaint with the gun, id love to have a nice smooth black finish on it rather than the gritty gray pakerized ****. So i dont want my 1911 to be all perfect except the pakerization :p Lemm know how that duracoat works out for ya. might have to try it on my AK :thumb:

the only thing i dont like about the metro is the front of the slide serrations...its just something to hangup in the holster IMO, and may make the gun look tacky when i add the 1 inch Compensator.

the Taurus 2 toned doesnt look bad either, but IMHO its a bit expensive for a Taurus...ive had a few Taurus guns that sucked.

you may get more money but thats cause you paid more. i dont see ria's or any of the other 1911 clones sell for too much lower then NIB prices. for the cost of a SA 1911 one can buy 2 ria's and have just as good if not better guns. if you need cash sell the "unknown" name gun for a little less then you paid for it and still have a nice gun for shooting.
