Like him or not, Glenn Beck has motivated many people to start storing food. Pounding his troubling message of doom and gloom for an hour a day, five days a week, many people have heeded his warnings and are now preparing for the worst.

However, when that voice is silenced, like any fad, a lot of people will forget the message and lose interest in prepping. Some people have a short attention span and an even shorter memory. I personally think that when he's off TV, the frenzy for food storage will die down and manufacturers like Mountain House will eventually get caught up and return to business as normal.

I realize that he is not completely leaving FOX and will still have his radio show. But even he said that at one point, he will no longer "ring the bell".

What do you think?

He has stated that he is moving from preaching to the choir to working on the next generation. His focus is going to be trying to reach the next generation and for him that is the education of high school and college students.

I think he knows something most don’t and he is getting himself and his family out of harms way.

Just a thought.

Didn't he say something, maybe not on TV but on one or more websites, that what he has planned...either the end of this year or sometime early next year regarding the ELECTION CAMPAIGN...that will make the DEMS/PROGRESSIVES...POOP THEIR PANTS? Anybody got an ear what that might be?

Yeah, I tend to think of the good ol' days after Y2K, when Buddies were calling me selling their stuff. It was a vast treasure trove of survival goodies.

Maybe when Beck is gone and doing his own thing, people will start losing interest. Without their daily dose of information on the tube, they will start forgetting about it. Just as they do everytime nothing happens.

A week or ago I was listening to his radio show when a caller talked about trying to warn her friends and neighbors to start prepping food. Beck stoped her and said to the effect that the time for warning is over. Those who "get it" get it . He then warned her of the danger of these same people claiming she is a "hoarder" when things get bad.
I believe Beck is going to do more on his internet pay site when he is nolonger on Fox. Could be interesting: Beck unleased!!

I agree with your central premise above, HeartofTexas. As a group, Americans seem to have the shortest collective memory of any nation on earth.

Societally, we are constantly on to or after "the next thing."

How many middle school, high school or college students - let alone adults who were adults at the time - have a true understanding of what happened on 9/11/2001 or why there was a War in Terror?

How many people have a more than rudimentary understanding of who Osama Bin Laden was vs. him simply being a "baddie?"

While dimwits walk around in their Che Gueverra T-shirts, how many understand what communism and socialism really are, and how many millions have died as a result of these "ideas" and "ideals."

Yet these same people cast votes and after casting their vote, when asked "tell us why you voted for X," we hear such brilliant retorts as "I dunno, he seems cool," or "he was on MTV so he understands young people."

I am certain that Glenn Beck is not a perfect person. For the same reason that I am not and you are not. We are all by nature sinners. We are all by nature guilty and deserving of the fires.

Yet all of us as humans are redeemable.

What we often need is to be reminded, to be encouraged, to be asked or told things that are thought provoking and cause us to carefully consider matters of great importance.

I think that this is a big niche that Glenn Beck fills.

Having periodically watched his television show (though more regularly having listened to the radio show) I find the radio show much more interesting, entertaining, impactful, and thought provoking.

I agree that many will simply forget and slip back into old, wasteful ways that do not serve a person or their family well. But then, it has been written in 1st Thessalonians 5 that

2 ...the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3 While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

4 But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. 5 You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. 6 So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. 7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.

8 But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. 9 For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. 10 He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. 11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up...

12 Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you. 13 Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other. 14 And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone. 15 Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else.

16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

19 Do not quench the Spirit. 20 Do not treat prophecies with contempt 21 but test them all; hold on to what is good, 22 reject every kind of evil.

23 May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.

25 Brothers and sisters, pray for us. 26 Greet all God’s people with a holy kiss. 27 I charge you before the Lord to have this letter read to all the brothers and sisters.

28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

I agree with GB. All police states use informants extensively to act as a force/effectiveness multiplier for their various intelligence agencies.

I think there will be several high profile people that pull back from their public life in the coming year.
While the tv show ties people to their studios. The radio and or podcast will allow for remote production.

As previously mentioned - those who will "get it" should have already gotten it.
Imo, his TV show is just confirming information of what he's been reporting/predicting for the last few years, nothing really new there. More of a "See i told you so!" But a lot of things he talked about have come to fruition.

I wish him the best of luck on trying to reach the next gen about what they're losing w/o really knowing it and I think you'll see/hear his daughter that is presently attending college become part of that effort, sort of an anti-Meghan McCain.
The last Tea Party rally I went to showed a shift in focus to that line of reasoning as well. There's got to be an alternative to the "Che coolness" insanity.
