Ok, I'm an addicted poster, I know....:)

Fun one this time, of all the foods in the world, what is your one food you stock up on or put in your BOB or GHB that you know isn't really necessary but will make you feel good?

Keep in mind that healthy mindset is important in a SHTF scenario

Mine would be:

Reeses Peanut Butter Cups

Only problem being they don't hold up well to radical temperature changes

About once a month I try to go through my bags. And I rotate the stock, mostly snack crap for my lunch box bit also 1 yuengling that gets put in the fridge and promptly finished off before it goes bad.. Yeah that's what I tell myself at least.. It puts a touch of fun in all the seriousness

The first step to solving a problem is admitting there is one.

I'd suggest spending some time with the search engine. Use advanced search. The basic search totally sucks! :D:

You can also use google site search. Just type "site:survivalistboards.com" before your search terms and it will search only this site. But google and the site's search engine each have their own strengths and weaknesses. So it's good to learn to use both. I can find anything I need in less than a minute with them.

anything filling such as a previous poster mentioned jerky, baked beans, hash, not things you go to every day but have in your stock in normal situations. A lot has to do with the smells of certain foods cooking that make you impatient while cooking them because they smell wonderful...the pop and sizzle of bacon or hash, onions and potatoes. I personally carry in my GHB, BOB etc as well as long term storage, dehydrated potato slices (red ones of course) as well as sweet onion chopped and tossed in, I have small packets of green onion sliced rings I store in those glorious Capri Sun juice pouches since they are mylar if you didnt know for an addition and motivator item.

This is going another direction from the OP but consider the use of Capri Sun pouches cut below the straw insert , cleaned of course, these little pouches I use for instant coffee, bits of caramel chews, garlic powder and so on. Use your imagination! Just think, a simple empty beer can has a few uses, the tab...fish hook, obvious a short term container, fire starter and when uncoiled, rescue mirror. If you crush those frito chips into a chunk like powder and fill the cleaned and dried can and was able to keep it air tight sealed in a way, you have one hellova fire starter. Yes, fritos burn....like charcoal.

Again off topic- but I like the Capri bags too.

You can put anything in them. I pack up .22 ammo in em. 100 rds per bag. No moisture no corrosion. Carry in the pocket quite well.

MED kits. Sewing kits. Food like beans rice & bullion. And yeah - you can do trail mix in em too.

It was a good thread on here that gave me that "Ahaaa".

Tip - don't use your wife's hair straightener- go buy one for $9 bucks & stay in good graces.

I keep instant cinnamon and brown sugar oatmeal in the BoB's and steel cut oats at home. Also, a good supply of canned pumpkin so with some sugar, spices and milk (powdered or boxed) we can make crustless pumpkin pie. I don't like the crust anyway.
Pumpkin is also a great way to up the Vitamin A levels in your food storage.

im going with mac and cheese, which is nice because the knorr pasta sides last a good long while, quick to cook, and provides good energy/calories.

but I do want to comment on another post of yours, that was locked, about situational awareness.

my concealed carry license class touched on this, but that might have just been a good instructor that was retired law enforcement. but a good martial arts or self defense class will/should also teach this. also some good people watching will go a long way. not sure where I read or heard this, might even be this forum... but next time you go to a bar or restaurant look around and try and read people... see who just met, dating, married, not having a good time, etc. you will hone your skills with practice.

sorry about the derail!
