Tomorrow I'm going to my first gunshow. What can I expect to see as far as clothing goes? I don't usually wear t-shirts and jeans, but I also don't want to look like a preppy sucker to the vendors. LOL Any suggestions?

Whatever you do, DON'T wear an Obama shirt....

Camo is always good as long as it's not neatly ironed...

I agree!!! I've learned from other shows I've gone to that a backpack is invaluable. Especially when carrying around a newly purchased 100+ Rnd tin of bandoliered 30-06 and a bunch of other stuff...LOL :thumb:

Just wear whatever you'd normally wear. In my neck of the woods, gun shows aren't full of camoflaged rednecks. There are plenty of gun-nut doctors, lawyers and businessmen there to balance everything out. Someone selling a gun, or ammunition has absolutely no interest in what your attire is. They are there to make money, you are there to buy/browse. It's nothing more than a BIG sporting goods store with an extra-large gun counter! You literally run into people from all segments of society. I am a health care professional, and it's always funny when I bump into one of my patients at a gun show. The reaction is mutual, we're both like "You're into guns too?" It's priceless.

Thanks everyone. I just wasn't sure what to expect. And no worries, I could never bring myself to even touch an Obama pin let alone wear one. My mom is all concerned that my birthday trip is a gun show instead of going to a nice restaurant and a movie. LOL

Hopefully we find what we are looking for. My husband wants a Saiga and I want some kind of semi-auto pistol with punch but small enough that I can handle it on my own.

Just wear what you normally would wear. You're going to look at guns. Nobody cares how you are dressed. They will be oggling the guns. LOL I will say that most people will be wearing jeans and t-shirts, maybe a button-down with jeans here & there, with Docker type pants located sporadically (lol), but that's because that's how they choose to dress...not because that's what's expected. If you are in the market to buy something, just have your research done before hand and hold your ground, so you won't be taken advantage of. That goes for anybody. I don't think the way you dress had anything to do with it. BTW, I've been to a few gun shows (not many). If you really are in the market to buy something, I'd check out your local stores or www.gunbroker.com before you bought from a gun show. At least that will give you an idea of what you can expect to pay.

blue jeans and the coat you wear to do yard work in the winter. yes look as poor as you can. no jewlery,an OLD ball cap, old yard work shoes,a old army coat..ect

what do you think the merchant is going to say when your looking at that weapon and he is looking at you wearing a leather jacket, a rolex $15,000, a gold ring you paid $5k and shoes you paid $600. and you ask him how much? he is going to smile and add 300% to his original asking price.specially if its the only AK in the house, and he will know what everyone else has most all of them know each other
