Putting aside for a moment your every day use, hunting, and evil black defense guns, is there one in your collection you adore shooting above all others for fun and love?

For me it is the Marlin 1894css .357/.38 lever action rifle made in North Haven Connecticut in 2008. when I'm not looking at a firearm for self defense...or put dinner on the table, I bring her out for fun and games. Only about once a year, usually on a gorgeous day in May, and then I clean and polish her up, and put her away. Action smooth as butta. Accurate as sin.

There is so many in my collection that I adore that have no real purpose.

My most favorite gun I have ever shot would be my grandpas pump action 22lr rifle that was a Winchester made in 1910. It is just a weird gun that makes me smile when ever I shoot it. Hopefully it will be mine someday.

Of my personal collection I would say it is my PPS-43 in 9mm. It is heavy clunky and has no real use but it is surprisingly accurate and gets lots of attention whenever I take it to the range. Probably the least practical gun I own right now.

Mine is a tie:

Mariln Lever action 30-30
Ruger old army .45 Black Powder

Both are just great guns to go out to shoot, neither are a real every day go to gun.

+1 for the M1 Carbine. My dad was wanting a $180 Airsoft gun that looks and feels like a real M3 "Grease Gun" for his military vehicle shows and told me if I got it for him from a place out in California he'd give me one of his M1's and 500 rounds of ammo.

Needless to say that's a deal I couldn't refuse lol. Add to the fact that I picked up my dad's fascination for all things WWII and I just love shoot that light little rifle. Just points naturally for me.

Agreed!

Wow! That was my reply too. I had a marlin model 60 and a Ruger Mark II. The model 60 died (in a camping accident) so I replaced it with a marlin XT which is the same thing as the original model 60 but bolt action which can be (and is) pillared. I have hit quarters at 200 yards with the marlin and golf balls or even shotgun shells at 45 yards with the Ruger with the adjustable target sights, all with pretty good consistency. They are fun on gophers or just plain plinking and you can shoot all day for $ 15. No sore shoulders and not hard on your ears. Unless somebody brings a CZ or a $ 1500 Olympic rifle to the range, you're not likely to be out shot. In fact, I have not been out shot yet with either one. Tied a few times - Yes - but not beat.

The Ruger I recommend to anyone. The marlin is Connecticut and I'm not sure about their quality control. I don't what the odds are but I and another person each got a "bad shooter" (4" pattern at 100 yards). I fixed mine myself and now the bullet holes touch but had to get out a slide rule to do it. I'm not putting marlin down. I just don't anyone to buy one on my say so and then shoot a 4" pattern.

I noticed a lot of people cited what they liked but not why. It's the "why" answers I most enjoyed.

Theres just something about a nice lever action, right?

My choice is my Marlin 1895G in 45-70. It was one of the last ones made in CT before the whole Remington cluster****. I dont shoot it a whole lot, mainly cause ammo isn't cheap, or easy to come by, but it puts the biggest smile on my face when I do.
