I see it's possible to "Friend" another member here at SB. I have two right now. I don't really understand the function of "Friending" someone.

What I don't understand about this "friending" thing is what this feature accomplishes. Is it a feel good thing or does it add some form of functionality that doesn't exist without "Friend" status?

It's a feel good thing, it also lets others know what kind of people you tend to agree with and helps them decide if they want to read your posts.

I agree that it's mostly just a "feel good" thing, but I have to mention that about half the people on my friends list aren't so much people I agree with all the time as people whom I think tend to make sense, or at least argue their crazy points rationally.
