Recommend a good 2.5x scope for the AR-15.

I have an AR-15 that I am going to be using around the farm for wild hogs, coyotes,,, and the such. My longest shots are probably going to be around 100 - 125 yards, somewhere in that range.

Price is a factor. So please no $500 scopes.

Another option is a 1x4 variable power scope.

I would like something that is compact, cost effective, and good quality.

It retails for about $150 and it offers a BP reticle and up to 7X zoom if you ever wanted that much. However it may be a bit big for your requirements. I keep mine on a QD PEPR mount so I can remove it at will and it still returns to zero within 1/2-1 MOA so that is generally good enough.

Now if you want something a little more compact than here are some other solid options that would fit great and have gotten good reviews and are withing your price range...

The 332 is a good optic as well and it is sort of like a poor mans ACOG. I have one although the reticle is a little cluttered for my taste but hey it works. Plus it has picatinny mounts so you can mount "stuff" to it lol. It might be useful for a light/laser I guess...

At that range, iron sights. I think it would be a waste of money to fit a 2.5x scope for hundred yard shots.

If your rig is a flattop, you could go the "scout" scope route; low power, long eye relief. Leupold's scout scope is one of the more popular options.

A regular 1X EOTech is all that I would need at that distance.

One can be very quick & precise with the 1 MOA center dot.

I haven't purchased yet but for my girls AR i plan to get a Primary Arms 1-4x scope. Looks like a great option fairly inexpensive and good reviews. (I believe for just the scope its like $119)

I use a Nikon M223 1x4 and it works great....I don't recommend the Nikon P series.....

This is an excellent compact low magnification scope. I've been using one on my M-4 for the last couple of years. I zeroed mine at 200 yards with 62 gr m855. Then I used the turrets to lock in point of impact for 55 gr fmj M193 for practicing. If I switch back to 62 gr I just re-dial the turets back to zero. Never had an accuracy problem.

Primary Arms has a fixed 2.5x that is nice. I have there fixed 4x and love it.

uses batteries, but very well built and nice scope
