This long weekend I have a tribe of visitors, kids and helpers at the farm for a big renovation working bee. With so many kids tear-ar5ing around hte house it was inevitable that something would get broken - it was the phone connection; ripped from the wall by flying feet.

I am a licensed Open Cabler so it only took me a minute to re-terminate the old 611 socket and 604 plug, but it got me thinking.....

What will you do in a SHTF or other emergency situation if you need to quickly fix the phone cables or jury rig up a new connection? Could you do it? Do you know which colour wires to use and which pins to screw them to? Can you connect a new power plug to a lead?

So here are some links to PDF manuals and web pages (for Australia Only) to show you how to connect up a phone again, or maybe add an extension. Will post other useful info I find. :thumb:

If this stuff proves useful, I can post other info from the course I did years ago - comms and computer data cabling are covered.

Cheers, Herne

Good info mate,
Was part of my former employment, the worst connectors I've had to terminate are the R J series LOLO.
Terminating 240 volt AC extension leads is something that can be fatal if done incorrectly.

Not if they make the same mistake at both ends... then all is good except the colour coding :p
