What color do you prefer for a BOB? While military shades might blend better in wilderness situations, I'm a little concerned that they might draw unwanted attention.
thats why mine is just a sand color. it is not camo that will draw much atention and it blends well with all the dead leaves and stuff in the winter and in the summer there is usually enough vegitation that you dont even need camo in the woods to go undetected
Everyone's BOB in the family is Coyote except mine, which is ACU. The only reason it is ACU is because I got a $200 pack for $60 and got all of the accessories and attachments for 1/3 of regular prices. I could not pass up on the deal. If I need to go urban, I will put the black rain cover on it and no one will know the difference.
I have a brown one, kinda dirty copper looking, and a bright red one. Both are decent size backpacks. The red one is waterproof. I could blend in urban, or throw something over the red one to hide it.
Black. It says "I am a bad mother don't mess with me". Just kidding, black was just the nicest color of the 3 available for the bag I wanted. Could pass as a school backpack maybe.
I liked the ACU 3-day pack when I was looking but narrowed it down to coyote and olive drab. I thought the olive drab looked the most sedate- the coyote really stood out with the MOLLE straps they used and it looked more "tactical".
Mine is a medium size ruck sack, OD of course and I don't think that anyone would screw with me I'm as nice to anyone as they will let me be to them, if they demand to see my bad side, that's on them.
My 6 year old son's is a JanSport, Bright Orange. I picked that for him so he stands out to my wife and I. I dont want him being lost in a crowd because his pack looks like everyone elses.
OD Green and woodland camo. And I've purchased civilan colored rain covers to place over them. Serves 2 purposes 1. would help blend in during an evac-type scenario and 2. keeps external pockets & items secured from sticky fingers.
Once you hit the woodline, take off the covers and stash em away.
