Well I am back from vacation I spent a week in the woods doing the easy camping thing with the tent and what not. I did get to try out alot of my gear extensively that had only previously been used lightly and I will be doing right ups on some of it.

On this trip I left the woods twice to get supplies that I forgot about due to new items. Mainly it was for the cast iron dutch I brought along this time. I remembered oil/grease for coating it but I forgot a good cleaning pad for it. Then fresh steak, cigars, and drinks for the last night. This only goes to show that even the best layed plans can have a flaw.

At camp did some shooting, alot of cutting wood, cooking for the first time with the dutch oven, and of course all around camp maintance.

The gear I put to heavy use that had little time on it was:

A Gerber Saw and Gerber Folding Shovel both of which worked out pretty good. One Estwing Half axe. Great for splitting and chopping not so good on cutting. I had better luck with my old rusty trustworthy Estwing hatchet when it came to all out cutting she may not be pretty but she does the trick.

Fenix P3D Q5 I have been using this light going on a year and have only replaced the batteries once. It has a variable setting from low at 12 lumens to turbo at 215 lumens and a few in between. This has been the best small flashlight I have ever owned after this trip I wouldn't trade it off for another.

There was no consumption of alcohol while the firearms were in use. The bottles just happened to be beside the cooler and I decided to move them into the photo op. Its a private road and I am the only one that goes back there 99% of the time. You can get a car back to the point of actually dropping down that one bank then back out. Had several vehicles stuck there and one 2 wheel drive actually made it. It did set a bit higher then the cars it was an S10 with a 4.3. But all in all it was a great vacation had alot of fun got to let off alot of steam and it was the first in 9 years. Next time out I hope to try it with a Hennessy Hammock and a few more new pieces of gear.

Its how we do it around here LOL. Plenty of room and a good time. Work in the morning, play in the after, and then have a good meal finished off with a fine cigar and a good drink.
