New app helps you name that weed

http://extension.missouri.edu/news/DisplayStory.aspx?N=1649

I put this on my android tablet. It seems to work well. It does have pictures on most of the plants listed in the app. Database.
Looks to be helpful in the garden and around the property next year.

And for those that do not do the smart phone thing they have the same thing web based

The one downside i found right of was it does not tell you if you can eat it

Now go forth and ID that weed

Interesting that Sida rhombifolia is a weed problem there too. Right now it's practically taken over about a quarter acre of bare ground. It's horrible stuff, even Trimec and 2-4 D doesn't completely kill it. Chickens won't eat it, and if you brush hog or mow it down to the ground it repays you by branching out horizontally.

Leaf Snap

Leafsnap: An Electronic Field Guide

Leafsnap is the first in a series of electronic field guides being developed by researchers from Columbia University, the University of Maryland, and the Smithsonian Institution. This free mobile app uses visual recognition software to help identify tree species from photographs of their leaves.

Leafsnap contains beautiful high-resolution images of leaves, flowers, fruit, petiole, seeds, and bark created by the conservation organization Finding Species. Leafsnap currently includes the trees of the Northeast and will soon grow to include the trees of the entire continental United States.
