I'm looking for something fairly versatile, but lightweight (i know that stuff isn't, but i wouldn't have all of it on at once). I have an AR-15 variant, and 10 mags for it (all have ranger plates). I also have the standard USMC kit which needs to be carried.
My sidearm (M1911 hi-cap in .45 ACP) has its own thigh holster and magazine storage, so that doesn't need to be included.
So your pretty much looking for like a chest rig / vest? Cause I'm not sure what you mean by USMC kit I have the full USMC issue and I wouldn't want to carry any of it lol. Except the kevlar and sapi plates
Well if your looking for a vest I use a
simple stacker rig from BDS tactical in afghanistan so did a couple others in my platoon and it held up really well
That was pulled out of parachute bag so didn't have all my crap on it. The tactical tailor, ats tactical vests are also a good choice they have less material so they'll be a little bit lighter than my set-up.
Honestly one of the best set-ups for your gear is try to get as much of it onto a belt as possible. It keeps more of the weight off your shoulders. I just posted this in another thread a little bit ago.
For my loadout
Waist
-
ATS warbelt w/
Specter Tac Ops Belt as the inner belt
-
Tactical Tailor Holster w/ Glock 17
-
HSGI Bleeder IFAK w/ Trama Shears, [2] combat Gauze, [2] NATO Tourniquets
-
ATS Triple M4 / Triple Glock pouch
-EAG dump pouch
-Then a utility pouch with items for survival if had to dump main pack. Fire, water, other medical items etc. You should be able to survive with whats on your person and then be able to enhance that with whats in your pack.
If you go with any of those brands listed above you pretty much can't go wrong. Eagle as well, I don't prefer their stuff but a lot of guys use it and doesn't fail them. Original S.O.E. Gear is also pretty good to go.
If didn't hit the nail on the head let me know 1am here so little out of it
