Wow,

Big brother trying to scare folks into paying up.

Can you imagine getting an email from the State showing the Google Earth photo of house and telling you what you drive and what you owe?
The real scary thought is, The media knew 2days after tiger woods crashed his car, every woman he had bumped uglies with! I want to know where they got this info on him that quick!

yep, next time you get the chance... type in your home address on google/maps.. they have street-level views of most homes these days..

the only thing that's on our side.. is that big-sis is as ****-eyed as the Hee-Haw donkey. she probably can't tell what she's looking at..
The Google map of my house shows an above ground pool I got rid of 5 years ago, but damn it's scary.

Have you ever tried Zilliow.com, those are the clearest pictures I have seen. I can clearly see my garden hose, the garden etc

It's more up to date...at least in this area

This is so much like a George Orwell 1984 type of scare tactic. The sad thing, is that it one day could be true (if it isn't already) before we know it. The PN government is getting desperate. Hmmm...wonder why? Couldn't have anything to do with runaway spending, could it? :xeye:

If that campaign is successful, we can look for other agencies to follow suit. The IRS maybe. Credit card and auto loan companies. Who knows. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

I've used google maps to scout the area for resources like pools and such. I used it to check out the land of houses for sale back when I bought this one. To see if they had barns, workshops, etc. If we find it handy, imagine who else does too.

What gets me are the street level shots. I can't imagine the man hours that took!

There's a button on the page when you're home comes into view. I think it's "report a problem". I clicked it and reported a problem of not liking having my privacy invaded. They removed the picture in a couple of days. I've had some friends remove theirs also after I told them about it. If you don't want it showing up tell them to take it off. They will. :)

Ya know. I had a thought. I wonder if I pulled up my street and over a period of several months I reported a problem on each house. Wonder if I could eventually get the whole street wiped out that way?

Census has locked in locations of each place it has mailed census to, using G.P.S.
check out the Census website. I've not heard one negative comment regarding this.
They did my area two years ago.... took note of the size of the house, how many bedrooms, visible discernable features (pool, fireplace, etc). They will be sharing with the IRS, you bet!

No intent to troll here, but this is fairly old news. Chances are, many of us aren't protected by proxies (the big one), have given our name to some internet entity or irl entity that has that information on the internet, or has uploaded a photo from a gps-enabled device. Really, with the right skills and intent, a hacker could find you. The only thing that keeps the government from being said hacker is privacy protections written into law (and who knows how long those will last, or how scrupulously they're being followed). By and large, the IRS is more interested in bigger fish. They don't have the resources (interest?) to go after average tax evaders.

Duh, if they know who they are - what are they waiting for and why are they offering deals to the delinquent? The compliant are made to pay for this delinquency in the form of neat commercials while getting intimidated with the state's authority should they too think of shafting the state coffers. No worry, and soon as they finish with that, they will go back to building more casinos and pumping lottery tickets to their constituents.
