....you only die once." is the quote I just heard on the news from the guys who hijacked the ship with the Russian tank inside of the coast of Africa. What do you guys think about this?

I know it sounds like a movie, but your telling me some special forces guys can't get drop in a few miles away, sneak on that boat and take care of this problem? Am I that out of touch with reality?

I know it is not that easy especially with Russian tanks and our current relationship with them. What does Russian have for special forces?

Other nations should keep the ship contained and let Russia deal with their situation as they see fit, its their cargo and crew.

If you run munitions and arms on the high seas, you are prone to attack. Why didn't the crew use some of their cargo and fend off the pirates with some of those RPGs or have a military escort ship with them?

The pirates should have been blown out of the water way before they got anywhere near the ship.

You could always just let them starve ... they are on a boat.

Boats carry lots of food, that could take months if it were rationed among the few.

I think they'll either end up killing every one, including the hostages and/or maybe even sink the ship just to prove a point to other pirates.

I still don't understand how a ship with that type of cargo would go unescorted.

8 hostages, 4 terrorists and 12 bodybags. Mission Accompished

Of course this is Russia we're talking about- Just have the Kirov sink the bastards. Its not like they give a good about a Ukrainian ship anyway.

because most ships travel unarmed its normal for a ship or 2 to get hijacked most of the time they just take the payroll safe and leave since its on the ship and other times they ransom the cargo back to the owners its busness for them thats why they do it they tried takeing crusie ships in the past but they can move fast when they want to the reason is they simply want the money nothing else they have to act tough or people wont pay up and try to take the ship back if they know they will fight to the death the company may pay instead..

Then again, maybe the ship was headed to the salvage yard. The cargo might not be worth anything. It has been known for awhile that area was prone to attacks by pirates. I wonder if they use Geico insurance?

The cargo is tanks, RPGs, small arms and ammunition.

:D::D: you're right, it aint worth **** if it doesn't get to its destination. But realisitically, its worth millions to the owners of both the ship and its cargo and nobody is going to allow that ship or its hijackers to get away.
That ship may go to the bottom of the ocean and be salvaged at a later date, but the people responsible for hijacking it will likely all meet their maker very soon.

The hijackers have performed their last act of piracy and they might as well face it and surrender if they want to live. Once the US Navy is on it as well as others, there's no place to go without being caught. Its not like thay can slip over the side in the dark........there is no more "dark" in the military, night is their advantage.
