A few years ago I got tired of the taste of jerky seasoned the death with teriyaki, soy, chipote, etc,.....went to a simple coarse black pepper, brown sugar and salt. Haven't looked back since.

I've been making beef jerkey for a while and now I want to try something different. Anybody got a good ground breaking recipe that will shame all predecessors?
Might sounds a little weird at first, but Chinese LOVE it; including myself.

Fruit flavor jerky More of a sugary/sweet.

How I do it at home is 5 tablespoon soy, 1 tablespoon dark soy,1 tablespoon sugar, 1 packet of fruit punch cool aide, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp pepper. Mix and soak the meat in for at least 24 hours. Dehydrate and eat.

Sometimes simple is better, the whiskey and brown sugar is always a hit. But just try to make your own recipe sometime. I use to buy the bags of dry rub, marinade, etc, and decided one day to try to come up with my own. It took several attempts but know I have a mix that I love, hot and spicy. Remeber, all recipes came from someone sitting around making it up as they went. That is half the fun of what we do.
