There must be a legal distinction between having this crap on your PC unknowingly, and having it deliberately.

How you determine that is a computer experts job, not a court imo.

I think the court got this one right if you read between the lines. The guy is still a dirtbag, but it sounds like the court made the smart decision on some of the evidence.

The real problem, imo, is the makers and distributors of child sexual abuse 'products' (I cannot think of a decent word for this work of the human devils who make it); it's so difficult to believe that in this day and age SOME sort of filter or something cannot be developed to stop the spread of this tragedy.

don't know about filters, but deal with the vermin... one bullet right between the eyes every time on of them is caught doing this , or selling it, or posting it.... after awhile the vermin start not wanting to do this, and if they think they can get away.... make sure they don't...

make the penalty for it so harsh that they won't want to be any part of it...

It's not my state of residence. I'm just stuck here for work. So, I don't have a say in the politics. I'd rather free 100 Criminals than visit an unjust sentence on the innocent. There are many children here. So they should die too?

So did I!!!! But if people will not deal with it.... then it is their own damn fault and i will never go to that **** hole again..... not that it matters much to anyone, but i have spent alot of money in that city over the years, but i will not do business there any longer...

I'd rather have one innocent in prison than 100 criminals on the street if that were the choice. But I think it would be many MANY more than 100 free for every 1 innocent in prison. In my mind, that one gave someone the reason to look at him and make the mistake in the first place so he's not exactly innocent. Like I tell my nieces and nephews, if you want to guarantee you don't get yourself into ANY trouble then don't put yourself in the position to be considered for it in the first place.

i know how hard it is to think about technicalitys when dealing with such disturbing crimes such as this.just imagine this scenario.your chatting with someone online,they throw up a child porn photo hosted on image shack,your pc says you looked at this image weather u did or not,not downloaded it but just "looked" at it.some how the cops had evidence of this happening and arrest you.now you got a linch mob pointing fingers and movie stars protesting and your all over the news.would you want the law in this artical to still be there to keep you out of prison?or actually keep them from arresting you in the 1rst place getting your mug shot on the news? hopefully that puts it in perspective,only example i could think of atm.

this is all about the difference of something that is just on the web compared to someone procuring it.like standing beside a stolen car parked on the street as opposed to siting inside of it.it really has nothing to do with this sicko they spoke about or his failed defense of "i was framed".that was just used to get the headline so people will read it,that makes them money$
