Got this off Ebay the other day, so I put together a video for All Outdoor about it

Overall, I was not that impressed with it.

Couple of things that I have issues with:

Straps are not replaceable.

Lack of webbing on top and bottom.

No webbing on the straps.

No small outer pouch for basics.

Lack of webbing on the sides. There is webbing, but on the bottom of the sides.

Kev,

I carried the ILBE system for several years. Overall, the new FILBE is much better.

However, I love taking the ILBE assault pack and using an ILBE lid with it. It is great for extended time in the field without using the main pack. I like that set up so much so that I own an assault pack and ILBE lid but no main pack.

As well, the straps are not replacable, but it is more comfortable than the FILBE assault pack which also does not have replaceable straps.

The Assault Pack is literally supposed to be only a "day pack" and up to 3 day's when used in conjunction with the supply chain to keep you fed. Use the main compartment for a hydration source, grunt rolls, a couple field stripped MRE's or even a sleeping system. You can cram a lot more in there than you think. Use the small pouch for weapons cleaning gear, hygiene gear, or other things you want easily assessable.

The molle on the side was always used to can canteen pouches and two canteens. The molle on the back usually was only used to hang small amounts of gear (map pens, sharpies, chem lights, 550 cord, etc).

Thanks for the post. I was eyeballing the packs while i was working down in pensacola. At first glance i really liked the pack.
For the price and options, I would go with the army surplus 3 day assault pack.

I have both the marines and army assault packs, and right off the bat army beats the marine crop pack.

May put together and article and video comparing the two packs
