It has been said, It can be easy to "Hide in Plain Sight". Alien craft know they will be tracked on radar. Use lights like those on the world's known aircraft. Heed tower directions and then instantly shut off lights and disappear as in the Star Wars speed of light.

There have been many instances of just such things having happened. The Men in Black and our military control much of these occurrences. "We have no information of any aircraft in the area". End of story.......

Area 51 and Groom Lake information about an alien called R Rod has been scrubbed of of the internet. The alien said their craft used did not require seat belts and moved at speed we would have a hard time understanding.

J Rod said not all aliens are peace full. There are many enemies in other civilizations. He did say his species live very long lives.

Does anyone have info about Groom Lake and J Rod?

It is kind of a dumb question.

They would need lights for the same or similar reasons we do.

This is assuming you mean lights signals, or spotlights.

But my answer is hypothetical because it has to be: you aren't discussing a particular alien race, nor are you discussing a particular vessel. Understand the flaw in your approach here is you ask a question about a species you can't describe for me and can't prove exists, so it is impossible to answer your question without the response also being hypothetical in nature. They may not need lights at all. But since you implied they have lights, I'll take a very wise response and say they need them like we do, because you set the expectation here that they use them at all.

it was unidentified, it flew, it was an object, non terrestrial ??. it appeared to be a mass of glitter in the moonlight and hopped over several hillsides, it would go vertical make a square transition to horizontal move to another area descend hover , repeat till it left the area.

don't believe it was alien. the place I watched it was between Edwards AFB and 29 palms
What year and was there any sound?

I’ve never seen anything approaching a UFO, but 2 people who I know well and trust implicitly have. But relative to the stuff in this thread, the story is kinda silly and boring.

On a spring day, partly to mostly cloudy, early afternoon, in the East-Northeast sky they saw what looked like dancing bubbles in the sky. As I understand it, it looked like a bunch of translucent spheres moving around randomly in a small swarm. They watched them for a few minutes, then one went to get the camcorder they owned, and while trying to get them in focus on video they disappeared.

For the last 30+ years, I've been flying all around the globe, in all sorts of weather. To more than half the worlds countries. Not once have I seen anything approaching the weirdness of a UFO.

People don't seem to understand that ground based observation is near useless. As the contrast from the sky, sun, stars, clouds and light pollution often prevent identification.

However when viewed from above, it's easy to identify other aircraft and objects.

Thought you guys might like the view from 51,000 feet!

I'm gonna ask a really dumb question:

Why would an "alien spacecraft" need lights?

I didn't say UFO, because it is just that.....unidentified!
Pure speculation but maybe they don't see in the same spectrum as us or may not even have eyes in which case they might not even be aware they're emitting light energy at all.

The Groom Lake coverage I watched revealed they know everything we do and much much more.

J Rod communicated with the same researcher every time and who worked with him telepathically. The head people "were monitoring any communication between the two". Since there wasn't any "speech" they never knew anything was said. But there was all of the info exchanged telepathically.

For the same reasons our aircraft use lights.

To see, and to be seen. They may very well be largely indifferent if we see them in the skies. They probably want to not be struck by human aircraft.

Also, they may use lights as a means of communication. A "we are here" in a soft introduction over generations so as to not overwhelm humans with such a discovery.

A slow introduction, so to speak.

I have never been one to know everything.

On a probability level, I believe it is more likely than not that God created more than one world and more than one form of intelligent being.

If they can come here and we can not go there, they are smarter than us.

Thus , if they mean us harm, they could easily harm us.

Nothing to fear here.
Who says we are not being harmed already? Maybe they act to make us fight each other, so we cannot get together and go spaceborn.

Not that I believe the Paulides 411 stuff, but a lot of very smart, breaking edge physicists, seem to disappear too often.

Probably one of the models of Bombardier Lear jet

Nope, it's our Gulfstream G550, as we don't fly Brand X....

Here is another cool view of FL510 over FL, from the G650ER:

And a view of the HUD at FL430:

And a view from the G550 tail camera at FL510:

Back to: Area 51 and Groom Lake.

The person I am talking about was a very young man who was picked up by a government vehicle with a driver at his home, who came around and saluted him and opened the door for him. Drove him to the airport to board a plane to Area 51 and then to Groom Lake.

Anyone know who I am referring to? There were many videos open this and then.... They were gone......

It would appear that some UFOs/UAPs use what we perceive as light as part of a propulsion or maneuvering system. Some of the light elements, such as lithium, give off a red hue when burning (it's also a thermonuclear fuel). Some of the craft in Project Blue Book reports give off a wide variety of colors (ranging from an intense arc welders type light to various hues of gold, orange, blue, etc).
The 1968 Minot incident is rather interesting, since first hand reports were provided by those on the ground (USAF Security Police), and a B-52 crew in flight.

UAP (new politically correct term) on FLIR by Mexican Air Force- edit- purportedly oil rig lights...
We have a $1M actively cooled FLIR system on our aircraft. It's resolution is 240 lines, and while the picture quality is good enough for weather related issues, it's utterly unable to resolve anything around hot spots, such as oncoming landing lights, off shore fires or jet exhaust.

I put zero stock in any electronically generated image of a UFO. Even a laser can cause bizarre artifacts that look exactly like fast moving objects. Such as landing/navigation lights or hot jet exhaust.

When I hear there is a video of a FLIR UFO, one that maneuvered wildly, then climbed out at something approaching 66,000 MPH, I immediately know it's bogus. Nothing can move through the atmosphere at that speed without major thermal disruption, shock waves and nuclear grade sonic booms. It is the FLIR system being tricked by laser countermeasures.

Sonic booms are a complicated process. I Google'd several technical documents and at very high altitude, a sonic boom may not be heard by someone at ground level. A sonic boom is created passing Mach 1; anything over that will not create subsequent sonic booms (for example, the Mach 10 Sprint ABM did not create 10 separate sonic booms). Much the same for expanding fireballs from nuclear detonations.

A theoretical anti-gravity propulsion system could. The theory is that is bends and shifts gravity instantly in any direction, instantly pushing or pulling a flying object in any direction effortlessly. Think of magnets pushing or pulling against or toward each other. Same theory and concept.

A ship could be "falling" to the west, and then "falling" 90 degrees skyward, and then stop and hover, and then "fall" to the north.
