Just what a socialist like Obama would love....there is a lot of griping here about Bush taking away rights. Well, the democrats have a longer and deeper history of doing just that. If Obama gets in with a democratic congress kiss the Constitution goodbye.

You are spot on about Obama, but to not recognize that the LARGEST shredding of our constitution has taken place under Bush and the neocons, and ignoring that Neocon McCain will continue the very same trend is just startling. One side will give you your liberities plus some social programs for good measure but will disarm you.

The other side will arm you to the teeth, but wants to watch over everything. Not intervene (unless it suits them), just watch.

I think saying McCain is Bush is an excuse not to think. It is also a logical fallacy. The next president will not face the same issues and can't be the same even if he wanted to be the same. Indeed, McCain is too liberal for my tastes, but not as liberal as Obama thus... The definition of Neoconservatism is: a political philosophy that emerged in the United States from the rejection of social liberalism and the New Left ...

Seems right to me... Just call me a Neocon...

Let's see.... The gov now knows what I check out from the library, what sites I visit on the internet, who and what I talk about online and on the phone. Where my money is and the guns I have. Where I work, what I spend my money on, where and how I educate my kids, what medicines i give my kids, what magazines and newspapers I subscribe to. With the new Driver's licenses they have my fingerprints.

They can do warrantless wire taps and searches. Can lock you away without rights to habeas.

Sounds like "stasi" already to me.

FBI=MI5 domestic intelligence

Obviously not...

So the FBI are just federal police, or super police?

MI5 were responsible for tracing Soviet agents, the IRA and now Islamic terrorists (amoungst other threats, including arms trafficking etc...).

So what's the difference between the FBI and the police?
