I just purchased an old K. Kale Turkish Mauser short rifle for 100 dollars, and the stock is in pretty bad shape(cracked beyond repair). I intend to sporterize the gun, don't think is has much value and I want a good winter gun-smith project.

My question is while looking at synthetic stocks on Midway and other places none of them are noted for the short rifle. Will any standard aftermarket stock for a larger ring Mauser work?

Also does anyone have a stock brand recommendation? I would prefer synthetic.

My plan for this Mauser is to put a scout mount & 2x scope with a synthetic stock, and shorten the barrel even more for a light weight truck/hunting rifle. I thought about the Rhineland arms 45acp conversion, but if it shoots good I will leave it 8mm.

Thanks for your help in advance.
