Well, I guess God really isn't happy with having all the worlds G20 Leaders here in Ontario, Canada..........

An Earthquake centered in Quebec, near the Ontario border shook it up yesterday afternoon across most of Ontario, and down into numerous US States.......

Yesterday Evening a severe thunderstorm smashed into the Barrie / Midland area of Ontario ( Central )...this storm, while bad enough spawned a TORNADO that slammed into the city of Midland, causing damage and destroying a trailer park (Tornado magnets it seems)......The City has declaired a state of emergency....BUT it appears that SO FAR no one has been killed or is missing............

Sure a busy day for our usually pretty quiet little Province of Ontario...............

Cheers,

Smoke

Smoke, what is G20?? I have to tell you I think it is so odd that that quake has not had any aftershocks, especially for that size! Im a quake watcher and that is rare! As you suggested, maybe a warning;) To what, im not sure(what is G20?)

Im sorry, I hope you didnt take that wrong(aftershocks). Im not wishing those but just really think it is unusual! I pray for no aftershocks! That area did have a smaller one a few months ago(3.8), it also had no aftershocks and small enough some may have not noticed. That is something I am going to research on to understand, the no aftershocks(which is a good thing, just unusual).

The G8 and G20 leaders are simply the leaders of the most prosperous and "industrialized" 1st world countries................the G8 are the "biggest and best" I guess...Canada, USA, UK, Germany....that sorta of thing...the G20 is the top rated 20 countries..................

They are having their "summits" in Toronto and Huntsville, Ontario this weekend.......this "gathering" has cost over a billion dollars....and has essentially turned Toronto into a CLOSED, FORTRESS....they don't give a crap that this has shut down buisnesses...interfeared with millions of peoples lives and even their ability and right to move around their own city.........or the effects of closing down the buisiest highway in Canada, just so these wankers can "Move around" safely.................

Justa huge mess and worth absolutely NOTHING!.........no benifit to anyone.......but hey, a hell of a time for an Earthquake to open up and swallow all the worlds G20 Leaders in one swoop!.........lol..............as IF we'd be that lucky!........lol

And you are right...not even a remote aftershock...nothing at all...............kinda makes one wonder what's coming next?...........

Thanks for explaining! So this wouldnt be the elite you are referring to, just country leaders(puppets of the elite:taped:)! So they go there yearly or something to meet and discuss/make decisions for us/the world and we have no say on there decisions?? As far as the aftershock thing, im thinking that means very little plate movement occurs there which is a good thing!! As earlier poster mentioned it is rare for quakes there. I would be curious if this g meeting well still take place due to the quake? A precaution!

Ontario does have earthquakes. Its just that they're not that 'every day occurrence'. In 28 yrs, I've felt 4 and missed a few, including yesterday's.(I was driving home)
We also have tornadoes every summer. From Windsor to Barrie and past that (into the Midland area and further), its a tornado alley. Last year a 12 yr.old boy was killed when it struck through a campsite and homes were destroyed outside of Toronto in the suburbs.
We've also had straight line winds which are equally terrifying--at least now it is for me. The first and only one we've ever had here was scary but I didn't know what it was since I had never heard of them before...it came up very quickly and the sky turned so dark that it became like night. It was on a Sunday morning in April several years back. Now when I hear of possibility of straight line winds, I"m worried!
Since then, we've had warnings and watches for straight line winds, tornadoes, etc. on quite a regular basis but nothing has came of it in my immediate area.
Many years ago, we were camping along Lake Huron when a nasty storm approached. Later we found out that it had hit around London, Ontario (tornado) and a few years after that, I remember the sky being a weird eerie colour of green when I was walking to work in the morning. But the weather was 'normal' all day long until 5 o'clock when it struck. That is when Barrie, Ontario got hard hit --it hit the race track in particular and people did die; but we had a bad storm down here in the Niagara Peninsula at that point too. We had a bad hailstorm with golf ball sized hail--caused a lot of damage.
There have been small tornadoes going up waterways such as the Welland Canal and along rivers in the area. Friends of ours had it happen on the river behind them and it struck their detached garage 30' away from their house) which was demolished as they were running to the basement.
Not sure why even people who live in Ontario don't think we have earthquakes. We do!

While earthquakes in Ontario DO occasionally occur, they are rare....and one that actually shook for long enough and hard enough for stuff to be shaken from shelves, windows shattered etc are even more rare....

As for the Tornados, I KNOW that they occur...lived in the Barrie area for many years and experienced the screaching high winds, torential rains etc that come in off Georgian Bay first hand........and SAW with my own eyes what the Tornado did to the Essa Road area .....our old house is on the hill just off of Essa Road.....right were the Tornado had gone through many years before......

Ontario in reality, while we get some good variables in weather, really do enjoy a pretty stable and level climate and geological footing......I guess we aren't used to being shaken around like that....not like Cali that gets what 10 quakes a day?.......lol.....

The ignorance about science fact on this board never ceases to amaze me.

Tornados are NOT related to earthquakes. Please!
