If Uncle Fred croaked today and left you a $Million Bucks (or maybe $5000.00), what are the top 5 things you'd get to fulfill your prepper bucket list?

Me, currently?:

1) A good quality, E-bike (on and off road). Good, back up, emergency transportation.
2) Another, bigger freezer.
3) Enough grass fed beef to fill the freezer.
4) All things necessary to begin canning foods.
5) All things necessary to make my own tinctures.

I suppose buying Pitcarin Island is off the table. This takes a bit of contemplation. OK, I got it.

If a million bucks, I'd move to a more sustainable and cooler location. And invest the rest.

More realistically my wish list is...

1. Solar system for the house to allow us an off grid capability, minus running the central AC.
2. An EMP proof pickup like a 1972 F250 4x4.
3. A garden large enough to sustain us both - and the knowledge to actually succeed.
4. Yes, canning (lack of) is another weak (nonexistant) point. And smoking meat.
5. A means to provide water to the house once the stash is gone. (Can't drill, hauling from the river would be brutal, maybe too dangerous.)

(6. A Ma Duce and semi truck fulla .50 bmg, pre-linked. Just cause it'd be fun to have.) :D

Nope! Uncle Fred only left you with a $Million. You'll have to settle for some Arkansas Ozark property.

I'd buy a prepper trophy wife.

Just kidding...

I got that covered. You know when she says, "We need to go to the range more, it's relaxing," you found the right one! :)

But @ActionJackson - makes a good point - DRONES! That's the future for all kinds of things. From security to simple things like checking on a neighbors "green" pool - mosquito factory.

A Cabin where the Snow lasts for at leased 4 months of the year far enough away to not have to give a :poop:
A 30-06 and enough Ammo and Game to never have to worry again,
I can sell you those, as soon as your check clears. Except in Kolorado, not Montana. I guarantee all the snow you can tolerate, whether you want anymore or not. And, if we close before the end of the year, I’ll throw in some lightly used snow shoes, one for each foot.

1. Land - My wife can build whatever main house she wants, but I will build a little off grid cabin to play around in. And a shop for all my junk.
2. Freeze drier.
3. I am paying someone to do the damn lawn. Not a prepping thing, but I am sick of yardwork and weeds. I am paying somebody else to worry about that.
4. Underground bunker of modest size.
5. A real solar system.

Nice!!

I noticed at least two other posters (maybe three) mention a .50 Cal rifle. I pondered putting that on my list as well. And I was considering a hefty drone with certain attachments or a potential for attachments (heat sensing or night vision camera, weaponry, etc.)

Well ... I was leaning towards a gold-plated E-Bike and a freezer full of Wagyu beef.

Look out if you ever do get an inheritance....the money goes fast especially if you haven't ever had much....
We already had the house in montana so picked up freeze dryers, arms for the crew and enough medical products to open a clinic...
Seeds and soil modifiers to grow a lot of garden, Used but decent 4WD's with 10 ply tires.
Money can make a difference but intent and hard work will also get you there...

Simple things like a small flock of chickens and extra feed, a couple of useful guns and knowing your neighbors goes a long ways towards survival..

In giving this fantasy some thought about what I would do. Our church would get that exterior paint job and some needed repairs. My Pastor would get a nice little bump stipend and my tithing could go up. I came up with taking a portion of it to pay off this place thus leaving us with no house payment. Take the rest and invest it. Between the investment and the added money not being spent, I could do some careful calculations about what I might or might not need. Much better than making a bunch of rash purchases draining the money leaving us with very little.

Pay tithing,
Pay off the rest of the bills,
Put a house up in “The Fort”,
Build a better Bronco…
or buy a better Excursion,
or find a military mule,
Find a good row boat,
so I can paddle around the lake
thats in The Fort…
Build a shop with a lathe & mill,
Round out my hand tools,
Buy a Cat Trike Quad Bike
from Utah Trikes,
Find a CT70,
Get my teeth fixed
which should probably be first on the list,
Dad said he should have done that
when he was younger.
Get the back surgery done.
Move to The Fort
Make bi-weekly trips out to Costco
otherwise, play the rest of my days.

1. Tithe to the Church
2. Pay off mortgage on the homestead and houses
3. Pay off the truck and all remaining bills
4. Buy some more cattle - a Jersey milk cow, Dexter bull, and a couple of steers or feeder calves
5. Retire from the "paying" job to tend to the homestead/farm full time.

You don't even need uncle Fred to croak, Jackson.
All your dreams can come true for under $4K, and a few YouTube videos to watch.
As for me, I'm out of uncles and aunts and high expectations.
I have plenty of stuff, but I could do with an old easy to fix car, without any e-crap.
I have a feeling, that bad time is approaching.

Payoff my mortgage
Buy out my neighboring properties
Buy the kiddo/SIL a house with property,
invest in both their businesses and invest 1/2 the remaining funds in something that gives an annual return.
Oh, start a non-profit for stray dogs and mules...need them for guard dogs and transportation when things head south.

Thanks for the reminder. I have to pull my high powered CB radio out of the box and attempt to get it set up. I'm not sure where I'd put the antenna in my new abode. I wish someone made an effective indoor antenna. I'll have to research that.

Edit: Well, well ... will you look at that: Firestik IBA-5 Indoor CB Base Antenna | Right Channel Radios
