Hey guys,

What are your top 10 favorite guns for any survival situation?

I keep seeing threads that say "What is your favorite survival weapon" and I see "AK-47, SKS, FAL" over and over again, so the mission of this thread is to see some other options. To start, mine are:

1. VZ-58
2. AK-47
3. SKS
4. FN-FAL
5. HK-91
6. Remington 700
7. Ruger Mini-30
8. SKS-D
9. Mosin Nagant M44
10. M1 Carbine

What's so good about the VZ 58? I haven't heard of them before.

What's so good about the VZ 58? I haven't heard of them before.

It's the Czech equivalent of the AK-47. The only jam I have ever heard of out of one is from a long scope getting in the way of the ejection port. It is a simpler design than the AK, if you could believe such a thing, and it is much more accurate.

Just about anything. I plan on using .32 ACP in a chamber adapter for small game.

Plus, I think .22's will be available for next to nothing in the PAW. If I think I need one I'll pick one up then. Do have plenty of ammuntion of one.

I have a Walther that uses 22, but won't do much damage, just put a hole thru the body, unless you hit a vital organ.

This looks fun, I wanna play too
1. VZ58/CZ858 - Mine is a decked out CZ858 which has the longer barrel. These guns are amazing. Incredibly reliable, very accurate and more aftermarket crap than anything except maybe an AR15.
2. Stainless mini 14 - semi auto and stainless steel. That should be law.
3. Remington 870 Wingmaster 12 gauge. Nuf said.
4. 1911 - any flavour.
5. Ruger 10/22 - like who doesn't have at least one of these???
6. .30-06. Who cares what kind?
7. CZ-75 - just because there will always be 9mm around, and that pistol fits everyone's hand like a glove.
8. .22 pistol. Mine is a GSG 1911. There will always be a survival need that can be filled with a .22 pistol. Should be a no-brainer for everyone.
9. Did I already say a 1911? Well, how about a .30-30 then. Enough ammo lying around and the gun can be handled well by about everyone.
10. SKS. These gotta be the butt ugliest guns I have ever seen, but at their current price and the price of cheap milsurp ammo, everyone should have a crate of these guns just for handing out to friends in a time of need.

That was fun and educational. Thanks for letting me play. I am liking some of the choices of other people here too. It would probably be wise to have a .357 mag revolver too, but where would this then stop???
