So as to not hijack the other thread, and to put this discussion in its proper place, I’ll continue this with you here.
This generation’s ignorance of American history is astounding.
I am a Christian, but in the eyes of most just barely. I hate church and I despise organized religion. I don’t shove anything down anyone’s throat and won’t try to convert or press anyone to Christianity, least of all one as factually challenged as you or your website. Your religion or lack thereof is utterly irrelevant to me.
But this nation WAS FOUNDED BY CHRISTIANS, the evidence of which could fill a warehouse.
In 1776 Thomas Paine wrote a pamphlet called “Common Sense”. It was embraced by the colonists and helped to spark the American Revolution. Ever hear of it? Allow me to introduce you:

The quotation which ye have made from Proverbs, in the third page of your testimony, that, "when a man's ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him;" is very unwisely chosen on your part; because it amounts to a proof, that the king's ways (whom ye are so desirous of supporting) do not please the Lord, otherwise, his reign would be in peace.
I now proceed to the latter part of your testimony, and that, for which all the foregoing seems only an introduction, viz:

As you can see, this is a BIBLE BASED CHRISTIAN argument. This is why the colonists felt Romans 13 did not apply. A monarchist system of rule is not Biblical. The British Crown and ITS church were inherently corrupt, and in collusion with each other. The Crown’s brand of religion was forced upon the people, and this is what Jefferson also referred to in his “separation of church and state” letter.

However, a little research into American history will show that this statement is a lie. The men responsible for building the foundation of the United States had little use for Christianity, and many were strongly opposed to it. They were men of The Enlightenment, not men of Christianity. They were Deists who did not believe the bible was true.
When the Founders wrote the nation's Constitution, they specified that "no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States." (Article 6, section 3) This provision was radical in its day-- giving equal citizenship to believers and non-believers alike. They wanted to ensure that no single religion could make the claim of being the official, national religion, such as England had. Nowhere in the Constitution does it mention religion, except in exclusionary terms. The words "Jesus Christ, Christianity, Bible, and God" are never mentioned in the Constitution-- not once.

As you can see, this is a BIBLE BASED CHRISTIAN argument. This is why the colonists felt Romans 13 did not apply. A monarchist system of rule is not Biblical. The British Crown and ITS church were inherently corrupt, and in collusion with each other. The Crown’s brand of religion was forced upon the people, and this is what Jefferson also referred to in his “separation of church and state” letter.

You or your website show me your evidence that John Adams was a pagan. He studied MANY religions, as have I. I have studied Mormonism, and even read the Satanic bible, but I subscribe to neither.
Ever read Patrick Henry’s “Liberty or Death” speech? Swallow this:

PATRICK HENRY ON DEISM
Here's what Patrick Henry said he believed about deism and Christianity.
"The rising greatness of our country...is greatly tarnished by the general prevalence of deism, which, with me, is but another name for vice and depravity....I hear it is said by the deists that I am one of their number; and indeed that some good people think I am no Christian. This thought gives me much more pain than the appellation of Tory (being called a traitor), because I think religion of infinitely higher importance than politics....Being a Christian...is a character which I prize far above all this world has or can boast." (from The Life of Patrick Henry of Virginia by A. G. Arnold in 1854)
When Thomas Jefferson, at age 26, was elected to the House of Burgesses in Williamsburg, Virginia, in 1768, Patrick Henry was the popular leader of this House. The two men worked together so well, that they drafted a resolution for a national day of prayer and fasting which took place on June 1, 1774.
The entire House of Burgesses in Williamsburg adjourned, going in processional to the Bruton Parish Church to hear a biblical sermon.
Henry called upon Jefferson in 1774, after the British Parliamentary Act closing the port of Boston; they drafted a resolution for a national day of prayer, humiliation and fasting.
Geoge Washington wrote in his diary for that day, June 1, 1774: 'Went to church and fasted all day.' Shortly thereafter, Henry's resounding "Liberty Speech" was heard around the world.'

DEAR SIR,
In some of the delightful conversations with you in the evenings of 1798-99, and which served as an anodyne to the afflictions of the crisis through which our country was then laboring, the Christian religion was sometimes our topic; and I then promised you that one day or other I would give you my views of it. They are the result of a life of inquiry and reflection, and very different from that anti-Christian system imputed to me by those who know nothing of my opinions. To the corruptions of Christianity I am indeed opposed, but not to the genuine precepts of Jesus himself. I am a Christian, in the only sense in which he wished anyone to be: sincerely attached to his doctrines in preference to all others, ascribing to himself every human excellence, and believing he never claimed any other.
At the short interval since these conversations, when I could justifiably abstract my mind from public affairs, the subject has been under my contemplation. But the more I considered it, the more it expanded beyond the measure of either my time or information. In the moment of my late departure from Monticello, I received from Dr. Priestley his little treatise of "Socrates and Jesus Compared." This being a section of the general view I had taken of the field, it became a subject of reflection while on the road and unoccupied otherwise. The result was, to arrange in my mind a syllabus or outline of such an estimate of the comparative merits of Christianity as I wished to see executed by someone of more leisure and information for the task than myself. This I now send you as the only discharge of my promise I can probably ever execute. And in confiding it to you, I know it will not be exposed to the malignant perversions of those who make every word from me a text for new misrepresentations and calumnies. I am moreover averse to the communication of my religious tenets to the public, because it would countenance the presumption of those who have endeavored to draw them before that tribunal, and to seduce public opinion to erect itself into that inquisition over the rights of conscience which the laws have so justly proscribed. It behooves every man who values liberty of conscience for himself, to resist invasions of it in the case of others; or their case may, by change of circumstances, become his own. It behooves him, too, in his own case, to give no example of concession, betraying the common right of independent opinion, by answering questions of faith which the laws have left between God and himself. JAMES MADISON
At the Constitutional Convention of 1787, James Madison proposed the plan to divide the central government into three branches. He discovered this model of government from the Perfect Governor, as he read Isaiah 33:22;
“For the LORD is our judge, [judicial]
the LORD is our lawgiver, [legislative]
the LORD is our king; [executive]
He will save us.”
In 1812, President Madison signed a federal bill which economically aided the Bible Society of Philadelphia in its goal of the mass distribution of
the Bible.

On April 20, 1816, Congress also approved relief for the Baltimore and Massachusetts Bible Societies.
