I'm in my planning stages for an underground shelter and getting off the grid for normal everyday livivng.

In the event of an EMP a windturbine, batteries, inverter and other equipment would be toast right?

What's the distance from ground zero an EMP travels and is destructive?

In an underground shelter, how effective is carbon filtration at eliminating odors in the fresh air/exhaust exchange? Are there better ones?

I ask this because if your down in your shelter and cooking and on the surface things are bad, the odors would be a definite giveaway.
