I'm looking, for ideas for a three day bag. I like the looks of the Blackwater bag, especially when they were going for under a hundred bucks...but I can't find any of those for sale. I am open to regular hiker's packs as long as it can get me out of dodge.

So, what can I look at that has the following attributes:
1. Three day capacity. I don't know what this means in terms of liters or cubic inches.
2. Durable. Nuf said.
3. I am not going for an external frame, woodland camo, pseudo commando assault pack.
4. Price. I would prefer not to spend hundreds.....

The blackwater was about as "tactical" a look as I want. Don't want to look too obvious.
I have a few bags, but not one that can hold everything I would lile to have all in one.
Thanks,
DM

I got one of these from CTD when it was $10 cheaper. I got mine in black. It is a Chinese made bag labeled as Condor. I have had it for almost a year. I am impressed with the qaulity-for-price, and I have ordered some of the molle pouches to add with it since.

Price was my main consideration when choosing this bag. If I could afford a Blackhawk or other qaulity American made pack, I would have went that route. I may be getting a larger pack by the same people if finances allow.

One thing I learned from hiking the Appalachian Trail (actually the pre-hike prep).

Gather your supplies first..... THEN pick your bag. Have your bag fit YOUR NEEDS.... not have your needs be limited by your bag capacity.

Research your current bag and find out its size. if you got 50% more content volume than you have bag capacity.... then you need a 50% bigger bag etc.

I know that 72hr packs can be costly, but remember... If you're life depends on an item do you really want to cut corners? Always price shop, and always try to get the best quality you can afford. (I found a 5.11 "RUSH 72" for $120 when the MSRP was $170)

Also, don't make my mistake.... I opted for a cheaper bag ($50) when I wanted a better bag. I wound up buying the better bag later anyway. I could have saved all the money on the cheaper bag and just bought what I preferred to start with.

Hit your local gun show or army/navy and pickup one up...i bought mine at a show..it even has a camel back pouch and carries all this gear comfortably...only 26lbs with h2o

This is a GHB/RIP only, not planning to run off to the hills and play rambo...

this is designed to get me home or remain in place for some time without suffering too much..been there, done that...

I've been very happy with my Blackhawk products, and as an LEO and Tactical Instructor, get a lot of use out of them. That Sherpa holster is a very popular unit among us LEO's. I would, however avoid the Blackhawk bags. One of the guys I work with has done 2 tours in Iraq and 1 in Afganistan and he's one of our SWAT Sniper's. He said from what he's seen, the Blackhawk bags were not holding up very well. He's never seen without his 3 day pack and carries a Bug Out Bag brand pack. He said its held up very well and priced right too. I went with the 5.11 Rush pack. It has reviewed very well by SRT and Military. That Maxpedition Saberman mentioned is a very nice unit too.

Good luck with your search,
Paul B

And theres my first post.

Since i posted last, i did a little FTX with my GHB and found the bag wanting...

I got tired/aggrevated of having to sort thru three compartments to find/store items in the field...

So, i decided to go back to ALICE, which i used quite a bit back in the day..

I chose an OD MED ALICE ruck..perfect for my needs...I transferred all of my stuff into it, and it is much better suited for sorting, etc....

Holds everything the previous bag does, and then some......
