This has been debated over and over and it has never really been solved. Everyone has their own opinion for their own reasons.

So I thought it would interesting to see what everyone thinks here.
Which is the best personal defence round to have? From a pistol that is…

.45 .....stopping power, ammo pretty cheap, 1911 is easy to service and never jams, the slide racking back will make someone defecate themselves, and so will that big hole pointed at their face. it's not the most accurate thing in the world, but I can demolish those small paper plates...thats really all the accuracy I care about

357 has always felt right when I drop it into my hand since I was little and also using it for comps always found it fun to shoot the pins with it lol and especially the mag loads for it as well good bit of damage when used

I vote for .22 and .410 Cheaper ammo.smaller storage space needed. Strictly for survival hunting. For home defense,12 guage mossy and 357 mag.

9mm. Combines adequate stopping power with being relatively inexpensive and one of the most common rounds in the world (thus easier to acquire). Beats out .357 mag narrowly because of higher mag capacity in semi-autos.

9mm vs .357 ?

.357 more stopping power, No stove pipes or jamming, no feed falures, I will stick to my S&W thank you very much.

Keep your senses sharp and your weapons loaded and ready.

I use the 40 S&W ammo. To me it's the best of both worlds. Close to the knock down power of a 45 acp and close to the speed of a 9mm. I just bought a Taurus Judge. It shoots both a 410 ga. shotgun shell or a 45 long cal. At close range a darn near perfect self defense gun.

I think it's best to have a variety.
I have two 9mm's (Sig P250 & Glock 19)
and I want to add P250 kits for 40 S&W & 357sig.
A Glock 21SF is a must have too.

9mm... Why?
1.) Cheap
2.) Magazine Capacity
3.) With modern JHP rounds, there is really no difference in lethality in most of the rounds listed. Though, A .45ACP will knock someone back through the door while it shreds them up, just like a 9mm will shred.
