This was one of the best movies. Starring Ed Harris, Collin Farrell.

The survivalist in us all will appreciate what they went through walking over 4000 miles to escape from Siberia to India during WW11.

Some story holes but I enjoyed it a lot also. The mosquito scene was wonderfully entertaining. Ed Harris was great and Collin Farrell was "interesting". Good movie. Liked the references to eating pine bark and navigating using the placement of the sun. And the birch bark uses.

We call Ed Harris "Virgil" ever since we saw him in Abyss!! Fell in love all over again!!

The birch masks, scarecrow sun shade, mouthing the small stones, all great ideas.
The human will to liver is a strong one.
I just couldn't figure out why it took him so long to get home. Was it about survival or love and forgiveness?

Just watched this flick today on Netflix. It was good but seemed a bit rushed and unfinished. Id bet the original "directors cut" is something like 4 hours long though so they were forced to cut scenes short and leave some content out completely.

Probably had to do with him being on a wanted list or something like that. Political "enemy of the state" maybe? Makes me wonder if over the years he tried to make contact. That part of the world sure was a commie nightmare up until the late 80's. Some families were only a few miles apart but didnt see each other for years. They didnt call it the "Iron Curtain" for nothing
